timsampson Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 My rudder I built on page 59 worked out really well. I had zero problems with the boat drifting sideways or spinning. It was the most enjoyable day I've had since I got my little boat. The boat tracked really straight even here in Oklahoma with a 20mph wind that day. My rudder design freely swings up and down, it stayed down in the water and would raise up over some vegetation that I got into in the shallows. Can you clamp it on to make sure it stays or does it just lay on the transom mount? Quote

Bomber7 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Here is a picture of my rudder - used an MK TM mounting bracket I got off e-bay ($30), a steal pipe and an old road sign. Cut it down to size and screwed it to the pipe - works great and the last two days has been pretty windy and I had no issues. 2 Quote

basshead1 Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 I think I need to make a rudder too. A couple of the local bass lakes are electric only and if I put the motor in front it is almost impossible to keep straight with any wind at all. My outboard works nice as a rudder when trolling the mangroves though. 1 Quote
Bomber7 Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Made some changes to my boat set up - I got rid of my milk carton - I kept hitting it with my chair. Anyway I made out pieces of wood I had and wrapped them in some carpet I had left over from the floor. I mounted them to hold the battery and my bait bucket. It gives me a lot more floor space. 2 Quote
Bomber7 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 That's and awesome design, seems like i've seen that setup before. It works great as well!!!! Hey Jim wondering if you have ever fished at Zorinsky Lake - I went over there yesterday and boy did I have some good fishing - well at least bass and a few catfish which were a surprise since I wasn't trying for them. I caught one on a bass jig and another with a minnow when I anchored fishing for crappie - struck out on crappie though. But the bass fishing was pretty good. Might have to hit Zorinsky more often - I usually go to Walnut or Wehrspann. Quote
timsampson Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Hey I just got my hands on a 1987 sears gamefisher 3hp motor and I need a fuel tank, anyone have a lock on one? Need to get my lil lip ripper going fast!!! Quote
BassMasterOkie Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Well I finally purchased my Bass Raider 10E.. I'm looking for the measurements for a floor? I've seen some of the pics and they look awesome! Thanks! Quote
CC268 Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 What do you guys do for little trollys for transporting in and out of a truck bed? Quote
CC268 Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Hey where are you guys mounting your pole holders?? I have the trolling motor on the front of my Pond Prowler with the rudder on the rear. If I am trolling with a crankbait or something would it be best to have the pole holder facing backwards or does it matter? Quote
Pnickolai Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I have just recently purchased the 10E version of the pelican bass raider boat and have taken it out 5 times this year. It is powered by a Minn Kota 45 lb trolling motor running off of 2 deep cycle batteries housed in the Minn Kota battery boxes. I currently have the two batteries wired in parallel utilizing the built in electric wiring. So one battery is in front of the boat using the Pelican plug adapter and the other battery in the back of the boat by the trolling motor connected in parallel. This layout helps distribute the weight in the boat and increase the battery life. Also have oars that are mounted on the sides of the boat which I used some oar holders purchased from gander mountain. I have just recently installed a humminbird 597 ci DI fish finder that uses the quick disconnect bracket attached to the flat portion on the right side pontoon using 2 sided sticky tape which has work very well. The transducer is also mounted to the trolling motor which has turned out to work very well. I currently use my truck bed to transport the boat from lake to lake. All in all I would recommend this boat to any one. Can provide information or tips regarding the boat or accessories to any one in need. Quote
tfultz Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Almost finished with my rudder. Gotta say im pretty impresed with the results. Pics comimg soon! Quote
JD96 Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I got a bass raider 10E that I'm planning on being rough on. Pretty cheap setup. Just one 50lb TM. And a deep cycle battery. drag it up ramps, put it in the truck, and I keep it in my basement. Super cool fun boat, I can stand and fish, keep my TM in the rear, and keep space to stand up front. tfultz Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Here's a few pics. Not 100% but close. Quote
tfultz Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 For the people that dont wanna drill holes in there boat to mount stuff, found something for ya. Its called VHB tape made by 3M. Got my hands on some and it is STICKY!! Seen it on Modern Marvels. Not badly priced. But beware!! Once its stuck..its stuck!!! 2 Quote
cmaher Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Hi Everyone, I just picked up a Bass Raider 10E with a 55lb Minkota motor. I have been reading this forum for the last week and want to thank everyone for your ideas for rigging this boat. The one question I have is, when you run the trolling motor in the front are you turning the top control head of the trolling motor around so the prop is faceing the correct operating direction? Hope you guys can share some info on this I want to hit the water for the firt trip this weekend. Thanks Quote

Make a rudder for lakes...if you are fishing rivers like I do a lot I don't use the rudder at all. Quote
