Thanks Zach...no glue or sealer right?

Mine didn't have it but I would use it to put the rub rail back on so you don't get water built up in the hull

Do it right the first time use the marine grade sealant I used just regular silicone and it leaked my boat gained gallons of water in the hull and I had to drain it

You would want to use 3M 5200 Marine sealant.  You won't be sorry.  Silicone will NOT hold up.  You can get 5200 at Home Depot for the best price in a tube.  Allow for cure time.  Great stuff.

I'm thinking of sealing the top/bottom together with silicone adhesive.

Love this site. I'm a new, proud owner, of the Pelican bass raider and so far, I love it. Mainly used in local ponds/lakes and I have been looking for 2 weeks on a thread like this one. Great modifications and recommendations and after reading 51 pages of reies, I know I found the right site. Thanks for all the ideas, just wish there wasnt a limit on photo size cause I don't know how to modify the pics lol.

I've never took mine apart but have heard of a few people that have. After putting it back together they said it was never right, leaked and just didn't fit back right. If you do would you take some pics and post them? curious what it looks like inside.

Anyone take a bass raider apart? I'm looking to split the top & bottom to lean it out and run wiring inside...Then I want to seal it up. I'm getting some leakage through the seam.

I've never taken mine apart but know some people that did. They said after putting it back together it was never right, Leaked and just didn't fit back real well. If you do would you post some pics? curious what it looks like inside.

I have a Bass Raider 10E on order but it isn't here yet. I have not ordered the 12 volt plug accessory from Pelican to adapt my trolling motor. I also use my trolling motor on a canoe so I need a plug adapter to fit the Bass Raider female socket but also a compatible socket to use in my canoe. Does anyone know who actually makes the plug Pelican sells as an accessory so I can purchase a socket as well? It appears to me that the brand may be a Seachoice or Mar-lan but I'm not sure. Perhaps this type of plug and socket are universal to more than one brand. What have present bass raider owners done about trolling motor plug adapters? Please let me know.

Ok...Now that I've had time to learn my way around this forum a little better...I did a search for Pelican trolling motor plugs. According to a 2012 post from member "fishcat," the male plug and female socket are the Mar-lan brand and can be purchased from Cabelas.

I would still appreciate any other input about the plugs or sockets.

Oldfoggy I used the mar-lan brand from cabelas when I wired my boat. They seem to hold up well to use. Put one in the fornt and one in the rear.  Soldered the plug to the motor and used heat shrink tubing to seal it a little.

Andy....I'm happy to hear from someone that has actually used the Mar-lan brand. I've been holding off my Cabelas order hoping to find someone that has actually used them. My Bass Raider 10E should be here next week. From what I've been told the boat will have a prewired socket in the front with those wires running thru the pontoon and protruding near the rear for eyelet connection to the battery. I'm told there will not be a socket in the back, which doesn't make much sense if you want the ability to use the trolling motor from either the front or the back.. I'll have to solder the Marlan plug adapter to my trolling motor (as you did) and I'll also have to add a Mar-lan socket in the stern area. If Pelican is going to sell the "E" (wired version" of the boat) it would make more sense if they pre-installed a socket both front & aft. OH WELL....I can always find something to complain about....Now that I'm sure the Mar-lan plugs and sockets match what Pelican does pre-install, it won't take much to add the back socket. My job will be easier than yours since you had to add all the wirng.

Thanks

Oldfoggy First time out I put the trolling motor on the back.  It was such a pain in the ass, I spent more time steering and adjusting than fishing.  Had a friend with me so the extra room taken up by the trolling motor behind my back made for close quarters.  Next time out I put the motor in front was a night-day difference gained about a foot because the motor was in front of me.  Was easy to control and fish.  If I had it to do over again I don't think I would even bother setting up a plug in the back.

Andy...What you say makes a lot of sense to me. In this small boat I can see where extra space will be important. I also see your point about having the contol of the trolling motor right in front of you. Thanks for the photos also...you did a really nice job installing the wiring. I think my boat will be here in a few days so I'm anxious to get started with accessory work. I see from your photos that you used the plug/socket version that has the pins protruding from the hull mounted sockets and that your plug has the holes to mate with the socket pins. Mine will be just the opposite since my dealer tells me the factory installed socket has the recessed holes and the plug has the protruding/exposed pins. I'll let you know how it works out.

Andy...In case you get future questions about how you wired your Bass Raider...Here's the socket type that comes with the prewired Bass Raider 10E. The "pre-wired" version comes with only one socket in the bow/front. Near the stern end, the wires (red & black) exit the hull thru a rubber grommet. The wires have eyelet terminals for connection to the battery. There is a 50 amp fuse/socket installed in the positive/red wire near the battery eyelet. The factory wires are #8 size. Though this minimal wiring from the factory is a nice addition, the wiring you self installed for your boat is definitely a better setup. The pictures I've attached show the model/type of socket installed from the factory. They are still the Mar-lan brand but opposite of the Mar-lan model/type plug & socket types you used. Both plug/socket types are available from Cabelas. As you can see in the pictures, there are three wires...red, black & orange. With the 12 volt prewired Bass Raider 10E, the orange wire isn't installed in the boat. If you add sockets to your Bass Raider, you simply tape off the un-used orange wire.

Note: I've attempted to describe the new Bass Raider 10E that I purcased in mid May, 2013. Manufacturers change their designs from time/to time so this may not apply in the future.

Here is a little video of my Bass Hunter Bass Baby in action catching some gills this past weekend during a camping trip.  Caught  400 mostly nice gills and some giant Redears this day.

Thought I would share some pics.

I needed a way to mount my fish finder, and mount the transducer in front of the boat. I run trolling motor in the rear, so the TM mount wouldnt work for me , and I didnt really want to screw holes in the boat. So I turned to PVC (AKA Grown Man Legos)

This is made from 1/2inch pvc with a piece of diamond plate zip tied to the top. I have a mini 12volt battery underneath to power the fishfinder. I've got plans to add a rod holder, and measuring tape.

This is for the transducer. 3/4inch pvc, notched at the bottom, and drilled to hold the transducer. Simply hangs over the front.

(Pic has it mounted on the rear because the boat was loaded front first)

I tried it out this past weekend, and it worked great.

Very nice. I think this is how I will do my ff too. I may even put the transponder in the back and add a rudder to the pvc.

I have a bass raider 10e.  Has anyone found a boat cover that will fit it?  I love my boat and use it all the time.  I use a small trolling motor on the back and it works fine for me.  I still use the seats that came with it.  I found her on Craigs list for $350 and she was just like brand new.  People buy things and then just don't use them.  I have caught some nice bass in it and even a couple nice bullhead!

Bass pro has one that fits nice with the seats and trolling motor still on the boat. Its made by Classic Accessories $30-$40. Its not road worthy but is a nice cover. Buster boats has one that is trailerable, Part # B10000-Tan its $80 I think.
