mattyb91193 Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Alright. So I bought a pelican Bass Raider today. Im not sure how to register it though. It was previously registered by the guy in New Hampshire, and I am going to be needing one in New York. My issue is that there is nowhere on his new hampshire registration to transfer it over. Nowhere for him to sign over ownership. Am I missing something that I need? I do have the registration though. Quote
Jim McC Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 You will probably need a bill of sale in addition to the boat registration to transfer ownership to you. Just call your state's Fish And Game Dept. or whatever they call it there. Quote

mtdoramike Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I know in Florida, these boats come up all the time on Craigslist. But when you check with the owner, they never have the title. Here, we must have the title in hand, in our name in order to sell the boat to another person. Without the title, we would have to have the certificate of origin as well as a notarized statement from the previous owner as to how he came about ownership of the boat and a number of other hoops to jump through. Lets just say, without a title, you pretty much have an expensive lawn fixture. Quote
badsters Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 That sounds neat, could you post a picture of it? Mike I am a member of the Texas Fishing Forums, and there is a good thread started for Buster style boats. Here are some pictures of a Dolly a friend built. He has built them with bike tires, also by finding a jogging stroller and using that too. I bought some large L brackets and will build mine using a small bike I got off Craigslist, paid $5 for the bike and will be able to use the two tires. http://texasfishingf...pics/7575229/20 Scroll down on this page and you can see what he has built. If you have time, start at the beginning of the topic and lots of great reading. 1 Quote

So a title for ANY boat in New Hampshire does not exist. And even in NY any boat under 14 ft doesnt have a title. So lets try again. Quote
Scott Salvi Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 MA doesn't need a title either...Bought mine in NH...no title. Just reg & Bill of sale... Quote
timma Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Nice job timma. If I used something like that with my 8' Bass Raider, I wouldn't be able to shut the tailgate of my mini van. With just the boat, I can shut the tailgate, which is nice. Quote
timma Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 The nice thing about mine is I can take the pins out and remove the aluminum tubes Quote

budpln Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 just got a bass raider 10e i love the thing ive had it out a couple times nothing major just kinda took it out when i had a chance. it has a 36 lb min kota on it pushes it pretty good but im thinking i need some hp... i got a rediculas deal on it too!! boat with the motor two seats and a little trailer i can pull with my car 450 bucks it was a steal although i had to rebuild the minn kota motor.. and i painted the trailer i didnt have to but i wanted a fresh coat of paint on it.. so u guys have talked about accesories anywhere in mass that normal boats cant. somewhere i can go take mine and not be botherd by motor boats im in the north shore and would like to get out on the water where i dont have to worry about speed boats and that stuff just want to be alone.. Jim McC Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 GREAT deal. Is that a Harbor Freight trailer? It's weird seeing a trailer without a tongue. Quote
budpln Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 it has a tongue.. not sure what the model is i registerd it as a home made.. Quote
Scott Salvi Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 here is my setup may I suggest pulling that trolling motor up at least to the bottom of the boat when trailering. Dragging it will SUCK... Quote
budpln Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 yea i fold it up all the way so the motor is as high as it can go and the control lays into the boat.. Quote
badsters Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 I got my Pelican 10e with title, and 2 deep cycle 1 yr old batteries for $180 (2008), Trailer was $90, 2 HP johnson motor titled, $70, and 30 lb trolling motor for $10. Total cost = $350. In Texas, boats being propelled by gas or electric motors require titles, regardless of the size. Motors older than 1992 require titles, older motors are grand fathered in, unless they are sold, then titles are required. I have a 16 ft deep V alumacraft, a 22 ft pontoon and a couple buster style boats, and i have as much fun in my busters as I do on the other boats. Love fishing small lakes north of Dallas, that do not allow gas motors, Quote
dominicd Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 What brand, size and type of batteries have you had success with on these little boats? I am having trouble deciding. I have a bass hunter ex with a 40lb minn kota endura to be used in small lakes. Quote
Jim McC Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I use a Group 24 battery(Everstart from Walmart) and a 30 lb. Endura. That will be fine with your 40 lb. Endura also. Quote
Tego Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I'm really happy with my Bass Raider 10e. I've had a LOT of fun taking it out in the evening. My problem is that we take it on three day camping trips and have concerns about running the battery down. My question is is there a battery out there that will last a long time without charging? I have two motors. I have a Minnkota 30 lb thrust and a Minnkota 55 lb thrust. The 30 works fine, but the 55 gets you from point a to point b quicker. Would I be better off to use the 30 on camping trips? We camp in places where there is no electricity. Thanks. Quote
tnriverluver Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 A small 1000w generator and a battery charger are about your only option unless you can bring an extra set of batteries. If you are running 3 full days that is probably pushing it. Partial days a Walmart group 29 will do fine. Quote
zachb34 Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I have a55lb thrust minn Kota and wanted to know how do you guys have it positioned in the water do you have it up high or low angled down up or even thanks Quote

buffresources Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Anyone have a one man water scamp?...thought you might like to see my "boat collection"...consists of 2 one person water scamps 79" long and an 8ft pelican for bigger waters. I really like the one person since you can carry it and with a 30lb tm you can run all day. The best part is I don't have a total of $500 wrapped in all of them. SW Missouri seems to have a lot of cheap scamp/pelican/bass raiders of all lengths. The problem is titles...most don't have titles and unless you are buying from a non-title state like Kansas you must have a title in Missouri to run any boat with a motor. If you just paddle you don't have to but put a TM on it an its' a whole other ball game! I was lucky to find one of the one person scamps with a title, the other is just a Bill of Sale, so no motoring with it! Just a word to the wise if you are buying and using in Missouri! 2 Quote
