What did you mount it with? I was thinking of using galvanized sheet metal screws. Would screws hold nicely in the plastic? Quote

Tego Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 I finally got one yesterday! Bass Raider 10e Brand new for $429.00 at Dicks which I thought was a great deal. It was one they had from last year and it said "Save $170.00" which I did. Now to get it rigged and ready for the water! Quote
Tego Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Another question which may be a dumb one. What do I need to run my motor up front? Assuming it's prewired from the back which it looks like it is, it looks like I need some sort of adaptor? I'd like to have the battery in the back. Thanks Quote

Thanks Wow, you got the best deal I've heard of on your boat! Seems things are going your way...congratulations! I too need to get one of those three prong adaptors that plug into the 'female' recepticle on the front. I have seen several places to buy them, and they shouldn't be too expensive. I was reluctant to splice my TM cables, but that seems to be the answer. Let me know how you install yours. There is a image of one of those adaptors somewhere on this thread. Great deal on your boat! Quote

Great deal on your boat! I spliced my TM wires. I used I think 6 or 8 gauge wire from home depot. I made the splice with a gurney nut. (I think thats what its called. a little aluminum deal with two screws. stuff the ends of both wires in and tighten the nuts down.) I then shrink wrapped each splice, then electrical tape, then liquid electrical tape, then a layer of rubber tape that I got from the roofer guys at work. My wiring has sat for days submerged in water and I have never had a single problem with it in almost four years now. You also have to turn the head of the TM around if you run it on the front. It is a single nut and bolt right below the head. Remove it, spin the head a half turn and put the bolt back in. If your using a TM that you just steer with your hand manually, I highly recommend a "Big Foot" switch. Thanks I ended up buying both the male and female plugs from Walmart...buying just the male from Pelican would have cost about 25 bucks if I remember. At least buying them as a set, i knew they would fit. Just replaced the female connector in the bow. Weight distribution is much better with me up front and the battery in the stern. Needs a rudder however (stationary) clamped to the back, boat stills tracks like garbage without one. Quote

If you look back in this thread I think I showed pictures of mine and explained how I made it. Quote
TeamMonroe Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Ok, I hear y'all talk about the big foot for tm, anyone have a video of it, what does it do exactly just turn the tm on and off? Quote
lunchbox77703 Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 hey guys do ya know of the lil foot controlled trolling made specially for the 2 man bass boats ? Quote
jaaron01 Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Yeah I know about the big foot, and was thinking of getting on for my TM. Its just a foot switch you splice into the wiring on the TM, and it's basically and on/off switch. Very handy on a windy day. Speaking of which I took my little 8ft'r out on the big open lake, with about 18-20 mph gusting to 34. I decided to head across the lake to get out of the wind some, and the water was rolling between 1 ft to 1 1/2 feet. One hand on the seat, and one hand on the TM. Made it across in one piece and was actually surprised at how well she did. Didn't take on any water, was fairly stable considering her size. I was rolling around about as much as the larger boats. I wouldn't want to try any higher wind, and it wasn't on purpose, but I've got more faith in what she's capable of now. Sturdy little boat, and I love it!!!! Got my trailer hitch installed and now I need the trailer. I'll post once I get it, and fix her up. Guy has a 4 X 8 trailer with no floor, brand new, and wants $200.00 for it, as he bought 2 at an auction and only needs 1. I"m thinking of instead of putting a floor on it, just having about 4 or 5 square rods welded across the bottom, side to side, about 1 to 2 feet apart. No need for wood floor as it's going to get wet anyway backing into the water. Quote

mudturtlle Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 I have a question about running the trolling motor from the front.I tried it today on my new pelican 10 E.It did not seem to react very well when trying to turn the boat.I don't know if it was because I was on the front with the trolling motor and.batery but when I switched to the back it.would turn like a top. Quote
dman Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 the boat will twist and spin easilly with the motor up front, put a rudder on the back of the boat to prevent this, also keep the battery in the back Quote

TeamMonroe Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Finally put the 2hp. Clinton on the Raider, waiting on picking up a 5hp. from my brother once the work is finished and we make a trip back home to pick it up. But with seats sitting so high I had to make anothet steering arm to be able to reach it comfotably. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted March 27, 2012 Super User Posted March 27, 2012 I may become a Pelican owner myself. The new place I'm getting has a small pond where one of these bad boys would be ideal. Where can I get the best price? Quote
TeamMonroe Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Craigslist, they are always on there. Gave 300 for mine with 3 seats and tm. Quote

jaaron01 Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 For what it's worth I bought one of the Humingbird Fish'n Buddies the 110 model. Everyone said they shake too much when going to fast with the trolling motor. I put one ring of Black electrical tape around the base were it fits into the holder, and that seemed to clear up the issue. This thing works just like any other fish finder, and a buddy with his boat was out with me, both he and I had the same readings, depth, temp. etc. etc. So if anyones wondering about getting one of these....go for it..well worth the 119.00 at Walmart. Also working on getting my trailer fixed up and registered with Nebraska. I'll post some photo's once she's ready to go. Quote

Also working on getting my trailer fixed up and registered with Nebraska. I'll post some photo's once she's ready to go. I've had a fishin buddy for over 10 years, and it's a great tool. I have one of the original Bottomline models and I use it every time I go out in my little boat. It helped me to locate a creek channel the oher day, where I found and caught some crappie. Mine still works well, and I plan on using it along with my new Humminbird 570 DI PT (portable) unit that arrived today. I could use some ideas about how to mount the suction cup transducer in a neat fasion, if the side of the boat isn't adequate. I will let you guys know how it works out for me. You will get much use out of your fishin buddy, and I would highly recommend it. I especially like the side finder on mine, and it does mark fish out ahead of you. Also, the temp gauge works well to let you know where the fish may be hanging out in early spring, etc. I started to buy the color model fishin' buddy (model 140, I think) before I made the final decision to get the down imaging model. I hope to be able to 'see' and study the bottom of my favorite ponds soon. Congratulations on your purchase. I'm sure it will increase your productivity. Quote
