wdp Posted April 27, 2023 Posted April 27, 2023 I just picked up 2 new TFO rods the other day. I’d gone to my local Sportsman’s Warehouse to replace a spinning rod I broke the previous week - my fault for high sticking a 4 and half pounder. ? Anyway, they had their TFO rods marked down half price to $80. Too good a deal to pass up so I bought a spinning rod and also a bait casting rod. Anybody a big user and fan of their rods? I’ve never used em. But they are super lightweight and felt great in the store. I’m excited to try em out. 3 Quote
softwateronly Posted April 27, 2023 Posted April 27, 2023 I had a 7'6M spinning about 10 years ago. Really liked it, was my 2nd favorite rod behind a 7'Avid ML. Found it to be sensitive with a good tip. If I hadn't blown it up snagging it on a back cast, I'd still be using it today. I can't imagine you won't enjoy it at that price. Congrats on a good find. scott 2 Quote
Super User bulldog1935 Posted April 27, 2023 Super User Posted April 27, 2023 I have a back-up TFO traveler in my kayak, though the blank was finished out and sold as Cabelas. Like you, I bought it for such-a-deal, on closeout, and very happy for what I paid. Mine is faster than its rating, and has fished some nice days for me. 4 Quote
msgf91 Posted April 27, 2023 Posted April 27, 2023 I used a few. I have one of the professional spinning rods and one of the older GTS casting rods. They're common in my area I guess because the warehouse is near by. There is usually tons of good deals on the used market. I was able to pick up the professional for 50 last year. I plan to get more. 1 Quote
Junger Posted April 27, 2023 Posted April 27, 2023 I have the TFO Pro Series MH and H spinning rods. They're rated Mod/Fast and I really like that action on these. They're on par with sensitivity with Daiwa Tatula rods in my experience, but not super sensitive. For the money, I think they're a good value. 1 Quote
optimator Posted April 27, 2023 Posted April 27, 2023 Hmmmm… does anyone here have the Tactical Elite 736? It looks like it’s in stock at my local Sportsman’s for $99. I don’t have a true heavy rod. Quote
wdp Posted April 28, 2023 Author Posted April 28, 2023 Thanks for replies! Looking forward to testing em out soon. ? 1 Quote
JS8588 Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 I have 2 of the travelers. I've thrashed on the light for 2 seasons now. Great rod. Quote
optimator Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 Bumping this to still see if anyone has the tactical elite 736? Quote
msgf91 Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 I don't know if any of the rods are 736's but southern salt has a few videos where he reviews the tactical elite. Then his later fishing videos he's using the tactical elite rods for inshore fishing. Quote
LootyDjibouti Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 Timely post, I just 20 mins ago scooped up the Tactical Elite 6’10” topwater rod for 50% off on midwayUSA. TFO is certainly not new to making rods in general and I’ve heard good things so I figured why not give it a shot at that kind of discount. My other topwater rod is a 6’7” M/F fate v3 from 13 so I’m interested to see how I like a moderate vs fast action. Quote
Drew03cmc Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 I found a Tactical 7'3 MH for $79.99 at my local Scheels and, so far, love it for chatterbaits, spinnerbaits and anything similar. I have a 16 Zillion SV TW on it with 15# Invizx. 2 Quote
