topwater jerkbait style?

I seen a topwater jerkbait style bait and am confused on which one it is I'm thinking maybe something like rapala original floater, this is a whole new bait category for me

notes it was not  a wake bait it was worked just like a jerkbait would be but was on top of the water

I like to throw the floating minnow baits post spawn along secondary points and cover in spawning coves and the banks leading away from said coves . Its a big fish pattern . I mostly  let it set for awhile then gently twitch them but other retrieves can be employed. .

What are some good ones this is a new technique for me. Also what do you fish them on?

I like the Bomber Long A in silver flash on  bait casting gear with 12 lb mono. That mirror insert flashes white like a shad..  The model with  three trebels , I think its 3/8th oz.

The only one I use is the silver flash. I think white would be great.

I fish some very shallow water with snags/submerged vegetation that hold big fish.

 

I have learned the floating style jerkbaits are better than the sinking/suspending variations in these scenarios.

 

Berkley Hit Stick and Rapala Floating Minnow are deadly.

My favorite bait in the floating jerkbait category  is currently the Nishine Lure Works Erie 115 TW.

My best producing floater is a Rebel 3.5” broke back bait. Second is 4.5” Rapala original minnow, but they are so light it’s tough to cast very far.

The reason I bought a Long A in the first place was because it was castable on bait-casting gear . The reason why I have over a dozen of them is because they catch them.

My favorite floating jerk, hands down, is the Zerek Sabre Dance 85. Unfortunately, it’s hard to come by in the States these days. There are still some available in Asia and Eastern Europe but the shipping costs are way too high for my blood.

 

However, Yo-Zuri makes a Pins Minnow Floater that has boated me some bass.
