I'm running a Lowrance FS.  Looking for a chip, which one would you recommend for Lakes and reservoirs?  Nav Platinum+ or the Cmap Reveal?  Which one has more accurate topo data or do they both pull their data from the same sources?

I'd take a look at both of their websites as they both offer a way to preview the charts they offer online via chart explorer (C-map) and chart viewer (Navionics). It may not always give you the best idea of accuracy, but generally the more detail you see, the more accurate they will be.

I looked at both their online charts and they seem pretty close.  Major difference I noticed was that the Cmap didn't show road beds on their online map.  I emailed their support to ask if any of their chips showed road beds.  That was wednesday and I still haven't gotten a reply.  Mabye I'll just stick with Navionics.

It sounds like Navionics might be the best option for the lakes you fish then. Both companies offer user updated information as well. I know cmap genesis is free to use for any Lowrance owners so you might want to look into that as well as the road beds may have been mapped out by someone, or you could even do it yourself.

I fished with a friend that used C- map and it looked good but I prefer the Navionics for the lakes I fish.

I'd look up all of the lakes you plan to fish and see which of the two offer the best maps of those lakes.

I know a lot of people love the Navionics, and I'm sure it's great for them.  But for my local lakes, the C-Maps have much more detailed maps.  Some of these lakes are only available on C-Maps.  Navionics will just show you floating around on dry land.

So, for me, the choice was clear.

I've used both.  I prefer the C-Maps in my Lowrance units, most specifically for @Bankc 's reason listed above.  C-maps have more details on the specific lakes I fish most often.
