Winning angler Barron Adams has his three day weight deemed ineligible because he failed to buy a Texas fishing license. Moral of the story don't forget to get a license.

Ah I heard them mention it briefly on BTL but I couldn’t find anything more on it. Thanks for the link!

Ya, I saw that on another site - one of those checklist items you need to go through.

If I was a pro, I think I would buy all the licenses for the states that the tournaments would be in. That is definitely something to do, and keep in the truck at the start of the year. Maybe that is not the smartest thing to do, with year long licenses when you may only need a week or so, but dang such a silly and costly mistake.

He thought that he had purchased his license online. The purchase never went through, he never received a confirmation of any type. Honest mistake, I hate it for the guy. According to Luke Dunkin's Low Budget Live, Barron is a hammer.

He'll snap back. I was DQ'd from a club TX once when everyone's license expired the day before the event. I was not alone. It was convenient for the TX director because he won after the DQs lol.

I almost had the same thing happen to me earlier this year. All my life TN's fishing license ran from 3/1 --> 2/28. So if you paid for a year on 2/27, sorry it was only good for one day. Starting last year they changed it to one year from the date of purchase. So apparently when I renewed last year it expired ONE day before my first tournament in 2023.

They sent out a reminder a day or two before the tournament and I had switched over to the TWRA license on my phone deal and I happened to check and caught it. One thing I thought was cool is I renewed about 3 days before they expired and they applied it as if I renewed the day after they expired kinda giving me those extra few days for next year. Doesn't sound like much but I thought it was a nice touch.

So if I got a license check on the water on 2/24 and they expired 3/1 when I pulled it up on my phone it showed my current license and also showed that I had already paid for the next year starting 3/2.
