DEPS_250 Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 Does anyone know if the MHX FP937 can handle heavier weights, like say 3-4 ounces? I am in need of a rod that can pull double duty for both punching and swimbaits. I am looking for a punching rod that can also handle glide baits and hard baits in the 2-4 ounce/5-8 inch range. Specs for the MHX FP937 _ 7'9" XXH _ 20 - 40lb Line _ 1 - 2 1/2oz Lure Rating _ Moderate Fast Action Quote
MikeK Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 That has similar flex to the SWB967 which is rated 3-8 oz. The FP is slightly faster so with a real hard casting stroke you are putting a lot of pressure on the tip with heavier swimbaits. Otherwise should work. Quote
Super User MickD Posted April 26, 2023 Super User Posted April 26, 2023 Considering the comment above and the fact that you can lob with the heavier lures, probably will work. A second question might be "Is there a better blank for going as high as 3-4 oz?" I don't know the answer. Quote
