I'm a bank fisherman and looking for a dedicated jig and trig rod.. What would be the best power.. Medium heavy or heavy..  And best rod Under $100

Edit.. 3/8 and 1/2 jigs mainly

Also a bank fisherman. I prefer MH as I typically fish lighter than what other jig fisherman probably fish. I don't have the luxury of maneuvering to free up snagged lures so I solve that by going lighter and snagging less (or trying to). I've fished the SLXs and theyre a nice rod for the money.

depends on the specific rod/brand a one rods medium heavy is another's heavy.  From the bank I'd be looking something 7'2"-7'4" with a 1/4-1 oz rating, maybe 3/8-1 in a fast action.  That's a heavy for most but some MH 1/4-3/4 would be right on target too.

I'm looking at either the falcon hd 7' heavy/fast or the daiwa procyon 7'3 medium heavy.. Heard they are softer tips but good backbone

You might want to look at the Dobyn's Colt, Shimano Sellus or Convergence. The Diawa Arid is also a very nice rod for the money. All the above are well under a hundred,

Another one is the Okuma Reflexions 'B' series - I've got a couple 'A' series and they're good rods.

Ark Lancer Pro 7'2" MH/Fast. They fish the upper end of MH, sensitive way beyond their price point. Brian.

For jigs 3/8-3/4oz, I like a 7’-7’3” medium heavy, fast action.

Depends on how and where you fish - I prefer a H action but I also fish some gnarly places and like to jack them out of there.

You can pick length power/actions from the other posts. Tatula XT is about $100 if you want another rod choice.

Solid choice. Shop around, places have been having BOGO sales on them, or buy one get one for $19. They're an absolute steal at that price.

If you can swing it, I'll recommend the Ark, Tharp Series, Moneymaker, at $129. It's a stout 7'3" MH F, and an outstanding jig/trig rod.

Check out Lew's rods, and Fenwick, Bass Pro sells some rods made just for them and they are good rods with good prices.  I like the Fish Eagle rod, it's fantastic for bass and they are not pricey.

Kick the budget up just a little and look at the ALX IKOS line. I just got my first rod from them and I can already tell it’s going to be a problem…

I have the bucoo version of that falcon, it’s called the lizard dragger. It’s on the lighter end of heavy and the slower end of fast. Falcon rods have a word rating and a number rating. A 5 power is a medium heavy, a 6 is a heavy, but a 7 is also a heavy. This is why I said above it depends on the brand and the rod.

If you can put in another $20 above the HD, that gets you options in the bucoo

lineup. While I wouldn’t recommend the lizard dragger for what you want, the 6’10” pitchin stick is exactly what you want. Light tip, plenty of backbone. I picked up the expert version (the head turner) so my bucoo sits home mostly but I pulled it out last year as a light frog rod when I needed it to. Prior to that it was my 3/8 jig pitching rod and various other duties. Great rod. Search this forum for head turner and you’ll see how much love there is for that action.

My vote is for heavy power but I’m biased based upon my own personal preference. From the bank, you’re fishing against some heavy cover at times. In this instance, I’d rather be over than under powered.

If you're adding $30, make it $45 and get a 2 piece major craft benkei 692MH RF/702H RF.  This is the best bang for the buck rod I've run into and a quality 2 piece means it can live in your vehicle much easier.  Took me a long time to give major craft a shot, but I'm certainly glad I finally did.  They have exceeded all expectations in sensitivity, feel, and looks.  The 2 piece Days rods are more enjoyable to fish than my exprides, I'm completely blown away.

If your going to add $30.00 buy a $130.00 rod. The Fury was and should be a $100.00 rod. For $70.00 Falcon HD all day. Really impressed with the 2 I just bought at that price point. For $100.00 Falcon Bucoo, Ark Lancer, maybe a Powell Diesel. Lots of good rods for $100.00 and up. If you want to go super cheap see if any Walmarts around you still have the Lews Hank Parker rods available. Way better than they should be for $40.00 and the 7ft. MH would be pretty good for what you want.
