I own a few phenix and honestly thinking about sticking with them. Need some opinions for offshore jigs, swingheads and plastics, not to mention I’ll be pitching to some bushes as well. The options I’m looking at are the 7’3 xh feather, the 7’7 heavy feather and the m1 7’4 heavy. I have none of these near me to put my hand on, so anyone with experience with these I need some opinions please

I don't own any phenix rods, but the new m1 is sweet and I've considered one.  Reviews are outstanding. I'd go m1, but the 7'4" is a MH.  They have a 7'2"H though.

The feathers have a weird grip (for me). They have a taper that gets narrower as it goes towards the back of the rod.  It was so odd feeling at the beginning. Having said that; I have two.  They work fine. Good sensitivity and they are indeed light. Not sure I would buy more.

the more mundane Maxim series is heavier, but I love it.  The grip color is kinda ugly, but form follows function.

but if it breaks or sinks, I’m gonna step that rod up.  It’s my dropshot rig, and I’ll get a great version next. I use it so often I can justify a great rod.

7'7 heavy feather has a rating of 1/4 -2oz but i dont go heavier than 1 1/2oz

you can buy a 736k2 blank and build your own and that blank is definatly good up to 2oz

You’ve thrown 1 oz jigs on it deep and it handled it well? Just wanting first hand accounts before I purchase ?

edit: talking about the feather 7’7 heavy

1 1/2 oz jig with pork trailer in about 30 feet of water and the bottom is very thick grass and it held up fine
