Certainly don't float, my glass set have taken a swim quite a few times but thankfully always recoverable.   Similar to the responses above, if they aren't covering my eyes I almost always put them away as they aren't staying on your head.

I had a pair of polycarbonate lenses I actually liked more then glass that are somewhere in the Atlantic.

Next pair I will probably buy will be Oakely's with their Prizm Polarized lens.  Was able to compare them to my Costas on a trout stream and it made a world of difference.  ***Disclaimer   I'm partially color blind and this may not be true for you***

How many of you are getting shot at or taking on incoming high speed bullet weights while you're fishing?  If this is occurring on even a very remote basis, maybe its time to reconsider where and who you're fishing with.

Fishing the river that runs through downtown Chicago may apply to the gunshots.

You posted that you replace every 5-7 years.  So now I'm confused.

You’re confused that he buys himself a new pair of sunglasses every 5-7 years?

That’s not what he posted. He posted that he replaces them every 5-7 years. Then he posted that he never had to replace one. So yes, I’m still confused.

If they have a lifetime warranty, why wouldn’t someone utilize that? I certainly would. Wouldn’t you?

Warranty implies defect. Replacement policy is a little more clear. My Maui Jim's can be replaced any time for $75, no questions asked.

like what? probably a million or more fishermen across the world wearing costas while fishing.

OP, they don’t float, trust me.

Glass lenses getting hit by weights or lures and causing damage.  And they fall in the water when on my head.  I am just not into all the hype about them.  They are fine, just not really that big of deal.

I have a pair of blue framed costa  Del Mar’s with blue tinted plastic lenses.  I love my pair of costas.  They were cheaper than the pair of copper colored plastic lensed Oakley’s which, are good too.

Defiantly will purchase another pair of costas when the time arises. I have 2 higher end pairs of sunglasses I should be good for a while

but I was hoping this thread was about them falling off my cap, which is a move pretty much all fishermen do. I think.

Mine aren’t Costa but mine kept falling off too, I bought a float lanyard, but I don’t hang them around my neck. They are like surgical tubing with cloth on them and they grip my hat now.
The lanyard usually catch them if they do fall and they will float a pair light glasses if they go overboard.
They are called CHUMS, got them at Walmart, in the fishing section ,reasonably priced too. I put them on both pair of glasses, everyday and my fishing glasses.

Having to and choosing to are different to me.  Warranty issues aren't going to magically appear 5 years down the road bu many confuse warranty with replacement programs.

I work with a guy that did. Took a sinker to his eye steelhead fishing. He ended up losing it. It does happen.

Has anyone had luck sending Costas in to get the nose pieces fixed? The rubber on mine has torn off on one side and you can't buy replacements.

That's really the only complaint I have with them though. The glass is so much clearer and more scratch resistant than the glasses with plastic lenses I've had in the past and the weight hasn't been an issue.

I have two pair of Costas and I like one of them. One I has never fit me exactly the way I like. It has become loose on the bridge of my nose. I can't explain how but I am always pushing them back up on my face. They fit fine when I got them. My personal preference is still Smith sunglasses though. I like the fit of the Guides Choice best but the lenses from Costa are amazing. So, they both have their place for me.

This is great posting. I remember a lanyard in my truck.  I found it and coincidentally they are branded Costa’s. The fit perfectly and the rubber tabs now provide the grip needed to stay on my cap. Thanks.   The lanyards are a thin plastic wire so they don’t get in my way.
