When I first bought my marine battery that I use for my trolling motor I got a lot of power out of it. I used a battery charger to charge it and it said it was fully charged.

But now when I go out it doesn't feel like I'm getting the same amount of power. Now my trolling motor is a little old and funky but still works.

Could it be the battery or the trolling? Any ideas?

It could be either but if the battery is 5 years old I'd bet on it being the problem and if it was 3 years old I'd still suspect the battery.

Have your battery load tested. Wal-Mart does it around here.

If it's not the battery be sure you don't have a bunch of fish line around the TM shaft and be sure your terminal are corrosion free.

The battery is only a few weeks old. So if it was the trolling motor you said the shaft? I didn't seen any visible fishing line on the outside of the trolling motor. Maybe in the blade. I'll have to check it out.
