Super User NorthernBasser Posted April 20, 2023 Super User Posted April 20, 2023 As most know, the eyes on the Magdraft's tend to come off pretty easily. I was looking to buy some bulk eyes off 6th Sense website, but not sure what size (in millimeters) Megabass uses for the 6" and 8". Anybody know by any chance? Also, has anybody tried smothering any Mend-It overtop the eyes out of the package? I wonder if that would work. Quote
Pat Brown Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 When I first get megabass soft plastic swim baits (or any swim bait where the eyes are glued on), I just take the eyes off straight out of the package, put a dab of super glue gel on it and then put the eye back on and then it never comes off. It's just a one and done thing before you fish it out of the package. 2 Quote
JediAmoeba Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 I think they are 6 mm but I bought a whole bunch from this site: https://backwateroutfitting.com/ 1 Quote

Any eyes you get that come off a sheet typically have self-stick adhesive on the back. This will hurt the bond if you use gel type cyanoacrylate to glue the eye in. This is what I do. Place a sheet of paper towel on a flat surface. Spritz it with alcohol. 91% works better than 70%. Place the eye on the spritzed spot sticky side down, then press down with a finger and rub it in a figure 8 pattern to remove the glue residue. Repeat this on a dry spot of the paper towel to finish the glue cleaning process. Some plastics are odd in that don't like super glue, so even if you press the eye in and hold, it just won't bond. If this happens re-apply the super glue and set the eye, then immediately coat the area with Mend-it. This will lock out oxygen to where the glue will dry, and the eye will stay put. 2 Quote
