How do you rig a worm using a Wacky Saddle?

Do you go through the bait, up into the flat top of the saddle?

Or go directly under the flat top of the saddle and then puncture a hole in the flat part with the hook?

There's pro's and con's and since I have never used them, I'm trying for a consensus, with reasons why one way or the other!

Thank you, SpokaneDude

I ave tried multiple different ways to rig a wacky rig and I have found that a piece of shrink tubing slid over your stickbait of choice and then hook rigged through it perpendicular is the best option. In my opinion and personal research, a hook rigged parallel to the stickbait kills the hook up ratio substantially

I don’t use O rings.  I use truck worms rather than senkos.  I just hook in the middle, with a #2 EWG hook, and a bullet weight depending on the conditions that day.  I jerk it up hard and let it fall back usually along ledges, either rock or outside weed lines.  I vary how long I let it sit still until my next snap.  The bass will tell you.
