ThePikeHunter Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Hi all. Just trying to get your thoughts on what a good application would be for a Heavy Power Extra Fast action rod would be. Thanks! Quote
JediAmoeba Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 What brand rod? Everyone's definition of fast and extra fast is a little different. But overall a heavy extra fast rod, for me is good for heavy jigs. 1 Quote
ThePikeHunter Posted April 18, 2023 Author Posted April 18, 2023 Thanks. It's a St. Croix victory. Was looking at one for jigs, but wasn't sure if it was overkill. Quote

Super User webertime Posted April 18, 2023 Super User Posted April 18, 2023 The 73Hxf isn't a true heavy. It's St Croix version of a Loomis 873 model. 1 Quote
PBBrandon Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 I have the LTB 7’3” HXF and it’s closer to a MHF. Has a nice tip and a strong backbone. The Victory should be very similar if not the same. Great rod for t-rigs and jigs in the 3/8-1/2oz range Punchfishing has a great video on YT on the exact rod you are looking at and gives a nice breakdown on it 1 Quote
r83srock Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 I have this rod and agree it is not a true heavy. It’s a great jig rod, sensitive, strong. It’s got more backbone than a standard mh but a soft tip yet. I like it for frogs, but love it for jigs. I think I could through most lures in my boat on it. It’s light, but a touch tip heavy so I prefer a average weight reel on it, like a Daiwa Fuego Ct. I highly recommend it. 1 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted April 18, 2023 Super User Posted April 18, 2023 Jigs, heavy gauge wire swim jigs and or Texas rigged baits, even frogs. 1 Quote

Are they just trying to confuse people? ? Bunch of jerks. 1 Quote
