Cbump Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 Anyone do this? Mom has a pool and I was bored so I grabbed my baby bucca shad and headed over. Man, I’m going to run all my baits through It now. Pretty awesome watching the bait action. I’m probably way behind on doing this but It changed my life lol Got a sweet video of the baby bull shad too. Quote
Super User gim Posted April 16, 2023 Super User Posted April 16, 2023 You ever catch anything in there? Quote
steve carpenter Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 I do. Interesting to watch the action and sink rate 3 Quote
Cbump Posted April 17, 2023 Author Posted April 17, 2023 I just threw a Yamatanuki around in there. I can’t believe a fish would bite that thing. Literally looks like a hunk of solid plastic just sinking. Quote

Super User casts_by_fly Posted April 17, 2023 Super User Posted April 17, 2023 I do all the time with new lures or when I change something. Great to check the action on stuff. also, grab the pool skimmer pole and put it across the pool as low as it goes. Put a couple inflatable pool loungers around it but leave some gaps. Practice skipping. 1 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted April 17, 2023 Super User Posted April 17, 2023 Fishing for the elusive chlorine carp, are you. Fortunately my comfort height toilet is deep enough to check a lures rate of fall.? 2 Quote
KP Duty Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 No, but I had a 'bait tank' several years ago....a 20 gallon aquarium to test fall rate, action, suspension, ect. Want to get another 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted April 17, 2023 Super User Posted April 17, 2023 I wish I had a pool to tune all my crankbaits once and for all. 3 Quote
Big Rick Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Yep. All the time. I'm forever tuning, testing and tweaking baits. Soon as I get a new order in I'm standing on the diving board giving the new baits a test run. I have really honed my skipping skills standing on the diving board. My pool is 42 ft long, so I can get a pretty good skip going. 1 Quote

My niece hasn't used it for years, but he keeps it open to test baits. I'm amazed the liner hasn't been perf'd yet. 1 Quote
camman Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Reminds me of when I was a kid. My buddy had a next door neighbor who had a pool but didn’t use or keep it maintained. It was all green and filled with rain water. My buddy asked if he good grow crawdads in it and they said no problem. I remember helping him catch a dozen or so and toss them in. He would throw in some food and we had a good supply of crawdads for a couple years until they tore it out. Quote
padon Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 i have a built in pool that i spend hundreds of dollars dumping chemicals in every year. hardly anybody gets in it. i test lures in that thing all the time. jerkbaits, practice walking a frog you name it. 1 Quote
jminer79 Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Yep, we saved for years and put in an inground.....after I make a batch of baits from a new mold I always test in the pool. 1 Quote
