They look like neat boats what do they run price wise?

all depends on the build out but i think the hull alone starts at 9k then goes up from there depending on console/tiller, motor size etc...

I know a guy who runs one on the susky in Harrisburg area and he absolutely loves it.

Gotcha so you’re looking at roughly 13k to get into one. I actually never saw them before. I haven’t seen those like cockpit kayaks with a jet on them. I forget what they are called. They do look like neat little boats that have a niche. The Harrisburg/fort hunter area is as gnarly and unforgiving as it gets.

yup they look like a lot of fun but at the same time it seems like a get to a spot and get out and fish type of deal.

if you get a small tiller motor yeah.  I built one out and it was closer to 30k once you get the largest jet you can which is as much as the hull, side console, trolling motor etc....

Yes mokai is what they are. 30k seems really pricey if it’s only a 16. What is the largest jet a 60/40?

yeah that is the largest but it is more of a lightweight deal and since it is made out of plastic no need for UHMW on the bottom and top speeds are still in teh 25-30 range and it drafts realy shallow so it isn't like some boats that can run in 4" but can't stop and fish.  I do think it is a pretty specialized boat though which does add to the cost.I wouldn't be fishing with more than one person and primarily just me so to not have to worry about damaging it by banging it up on the rivers and all that is high on my list of importance.

Makes sense 25-30 is average with a 60/40. My boat drafts about a foot. So I need roughly 2 feet of water to run my jet and not suck up debris. I would say with a jet gas tank batteries and TM you’d probably sit around 800-1000lbs. So probably easily a 1000lbs lighter then the G3 I’m going to get.

Sounds like a good river for my long tail, don’t need two feet of anything and floats downstream like a canoe. Downright impossible to break the hull and the entire engine plus longtail kit was about $800. the motor is from harbor freight and should have died years ago, I could pull the string right now and fire it no problem. I would never dream of taking a $30k boat where I go

That’s a sweet little rig. Wouldn’t be the best for the  susky though. You’d have to be selective of when you go out. I’m not saying it wouldn’t get the job done but better for Our little creeks. 9.9 props struggle once the water gets above 5’ it averages probably 3/4 of a mile wide in the Harrisburg stretch and south.

More and more people are running the 60k plus rockproof, river raptor inboards.

i think it is all about getting the right rig for your water and you found yours.  The water i fish is super shallow in summer and without a jet or a kayak like i have now you are severely limited in when you can go out.

Yeah when it hits 30k plus I don’t take that boat haha. Maybe even 20k , slow ride upstream

I saw two inboard jet and several outboard jets today, I think that means the striper are biting

That’s very true. My boat would suck for big water. I personally think jets are terrible but, it’s pretty much the only option for me.

Gotcha. I know my river gauges and where I can run. Last year I hung up the river for a little. I would have been better wading it then in a boat or kayak. If we don’t soon get some rain we are going to be headed there before the end of may.

Yeah I saw some footage from that big hobie tournament on susq last year, they changed the rule and let them drag their kayaks because the water was so low

Last year it was getting down right dangerous to even launch. Running a boat you needed your head examined.

I found a post on another forum a while ago that was referring going up to the statue in fort hunter. Which has a good channel to follow. It’s a decent rules to follow anywhere.

4’ props can creep around if they know the area

3.8 most production jets won’t have issues

3.7 boy that was close

3.5 you need your head checked

3.3 you might not come back with a boat.

last year we spent a lot of the summer below 3.5

I’ll be back at it again this weekend got the new intake on. Put the new liner in that came with it. Now, I will be going to a lake near by I can run my motor. I do not like to do anything to my boat that could affect the possibility of my motor not working correctly without going there first.
