waymont Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 I bought two to check out this season, and I heard the hooks are pretty thin. What hooks are good replacements when the stock hooks wear out? Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted April 16, 2023 Super User Posted April 16, 2023 I went through half a dozen replacement hooks this winter on a 110jr +1, and a 110jr. I didn't want to mess with perfection so I contacted MB because I wanted the exact same hooks, MB told me they don't sell them separately, but offered to send me some for free which they did. If you do a search on here, you'll find threads with hook replacement recs, but you can't get the actual stock hooks without going through MB. I'm sure somebody has found a very close replacement, but again I want to stick with the ones they come with. You can open the stock hooks real easy on a nice fish, so just remember to throw the 110jr series especially on lighter tackle and line. 1 Quote
JediAmoeba Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 Frankly I don't like the hooks megabass uses - I have had too many that don't bend, they just snap off. I don't know what I am using on the Jr. Because all the Jr's I got were pretty heavy floaters so I had to upsize the hooks anyway. 1 Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted April 16, 2023 Super User Posted April 16, 2023 I've been fishing the 110 +1 Jr's with a St Croix Avid X ML spinning rod spooled with 8lb braid and an 8 lb FC leader. Seems they do run at the advertised depth of 7 ft. I did change out the stock #8 trebles with #6's Gamakatsu EWG Treble Short Shank Magic Eye. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Gamakatsu_EWG_Treble_Short_Shank_Magic_Eye_6pk/descpage-GET.html Been using a St Croix Avid X ML spinning rod. Set up has accounted for several plus sized Brown bass for me. https://youtu.be/o9xew3tWuuU?t=51 A-Jay 1 1 Quote

I upsized the hooks but I don't remember off the top of my head what I put on them. 1 Quote
