They on sale for 99...never bought any BP stuff. Only have lews stuff. Any info on these "XML" ?

I don’t have the XML, but I got an Extreme baitcaster for Christmas.
The XML reel casts amazingly well. Way better than my much more expensive Carbonlite reel.

I’m sure the fact the Extreme for has a softer tip and loads up more helps, whereas the Carbonlite 2.0 is stiffer. Both rods are MH.

Based on that, I think the XML would make a perfectly good chatterbait rod. Might not be my first choice for bottom contact.

I can't find much info on the "xml"...thanks for your input.

I know it's not top tier, but I'm very pleased with lots of my mid 100$ equipment.

I’m pretty sure the reel at least is made by the same company making Lews reels (Doyo)? I know @volzfan59 has mentioned working at BPS in some other posts and maybe can shed some light. On a side note I’m a fan of my BPS branded gear regardless of who makes it?

@Eric 26, When I was at BPS, they hadn't reintroduced the Extreme rods and reels. Back when they first came out in the 90's the baitcaster's were $99.99 for just the reel and were pretty much bulletproof. They were green in color, don't remember anything about the bearings. They were the next step up from the Pro Qualifier reels at the time.

I think that the old Extreme reels were made by Doyo, but I'm not sure. I don't know anything about the new Extreme XML reels, but at that price point it wouldn't surprise if they were made by Doyo.

Sorry

Extreme reels were never a step above the pro qualifier. They were the step below. Good reels back in the 90s.

Agreed. The ones I had are what I started on and believe they were 5 bearing reels, made by silstar (pinnacle).  Woo Daves had a signature line of extreme rods and reels. Rick Clunn had a signature line also that were quite nice, the rods had sic guides. I don’t know anything about newer bps stuff but anytime I’ve held a carbonlite or Johnny morris rod in store they have felt quite nice.

I was talking about in price and yes, they were the next step up from the Pro Qualifier reels. At that time, Pro Qualifier baitcasting reels were selling for $79.99. The Extreme baitcasting reels sold for $99.99. The next step down from Pro Qualifier baitcasting reels was the Bionic series.

Sorry don’t about the new Extreme, I’ve got an old Extreme, still using it too. I’ve been happy with all my BPS rigs.

I've played with these in store.  The reel uses a doyo sv brake.  It has a flat plate on the spool that twists and extends closer to the magnets.  The one I played with got stuck all the way out after a spool flick on maximum magnetic setting.  Something to be mindful of with the reel.

I have an Inshore Extreme reel, I like it just as much as the more expensive Daiwa Tat CT I use to own. I also bought the latest Pro Qualifier because I wanted a 5x Gear reel, have not tried it out yet but I tend to like these old dual brake reels made in South Korea.
