I once snagged a lipless and yanked and yanked until I freed it. Once freed it flew back at my face at the speed of light and hit me right under the eye, no glasses on. Luckily it didn't hit the eye and luckily it didn't hook me. Left a bruise. Made me nauseous thinking about what could have happened. I always wear glasses now and I never try to free snags like that anymore.

i've had some pretty good days at the office.

but i am not sure i know what i am looking at.  what is up with the free hook on your left?  you already freed it from the lure?

I think I'd rather take two hooks to the nose (assuming small hooks like in the picture) every day than go to work, assuming they both paid the same and had the same benefits.  Now, I've had some good days at work that would definitely come out on top in that scenario, but I think in the long run, it would still easily average out a net positive.

Though, I would probably switch to barbless hooks.

That hurts just looking at it!! I have never got a hook to the face but a hook in the hand a couple of times. Let us know about how they got removed.

I've never had a lure to the face.  That's as bad as it gets.  Especially if you're fishing alone.  Last year I got one in my right arm.  I was alone, and I'm right handed.  I cut the line, so I didn't have my rod/reel fighting me.  I normally push the hook all the way through to expose the barb, then cut the barb off.  I couldn't get this one all the way though.  My pocket knife is usually really SHARP, but I had cut a bunch of carpet with it earlier.  I needed to make a small cut on my arm to push the hook through.   I have a small sharpening stone I use on dull hooks.  I sit in my spot locked boat, with a hook in my arm and sharpened my knife on my hook sharpening stone.   A small incision with my just sharpened knife and a snip of the barb and I was back fishing.   I have a well stocked first aid kit in my boat (as well as my truck).  I suppose a scalpel could be a good addition.  I don't have a fillet knife in my boat, but wouldn't want to try to make a precise cut, on myself with a floppy blade.

To the OP,  I hope it wasn't as painful as it looks.

I've had hooks removed before.  I would rather be at work.

I took a hollow body frog to my left eye today. Luckily, the hook up ratio on hollow body frogs is not nearly as high as it is with a Rapala with two treble hooks.

I’ve taken my fair share of frog slaps to the back and belly but only once did the hook get me. I’ll take a 1,000 frog slaps over one hook again.

Ouch.

Just the other day I started the afternoon trying to get my buds Lipless unhung. Of course I got it free and it shot back at me at light speed, hitting me square in the calf. I look down, and low and behold, there's a hook buried to the bend. Wasn't nothing some judicious work with my Kershaw couldn't fix. Fish on. Brian.

No thanks, I'll take a bad day at work than hooks to the head/body any day . Work being not a huge stressor is something I try not to take for granted.

I did fall off a ladder at work and knocked myself silly, so only 99% of workdays are better than getting hooked in the nose.

now that I’ve typed that, I got hooked in the nose working as a guide once but it was a tiny fly and came out

Sunk a treble into my thumb. It was on a top water plug. I had to take it off the split ring which hurt the most. Pushed it all the way to expose the barb, cut it off, and went back to fishing. My thumb was some kinds sore for the next several days!
