GRiver Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Hi Everyone, Can anyone tell me about what year this reel is. It was left behind by the previous property owner. I put in a box and forgot it , until now. Looks like it might have been a decent reel for its time. Found a parts breakdown but no year. It’s really stiff, going to need a good cleaning. Thanks in advance for any help G 3 Quote

Alex from GA Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 I still use mid 80s Shimado XHS Bantam reels and they're 5:1 gear ratio also. They work good for crank, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. 1 Quote

I know it looks beat up. 1 Quote
Super User bulldog1935 Posted April 14, 2023 Super User Posted April 14, 2023 Magnets just weren't effective back then, compared to modern Nd magnets. Those reels still had to be set-up and fished with end tension. The rod that would match that is the original Falcon, which were sold at the original Academy stores (Austin). 1 Quote
