Attaching weights/rattles to hardbaits

I have some cranks I'd like to attach a rattle to....thinking under the bill.  Also have some floating jerkbaits I'd like to make suspend.  Can you see any reason rubber cement wouldn't work?  I like the idea of it not being permanent.  Thoughts?

I have used hot-melt glue to test experimental lures before I switch to epoxy for a permanent seal. Rubber cement might work, but it might peel off, which it has a tendency to do.

Rattles to the rear hook area of the crank.  Wider wobble and it'll kick out when stopped

Didn't consider using my glue gun...also not permanent.  Hmmm...

I'd go glue gun as well.  Rubber cement is great for soft, flexible, and porous stuff.  It's not so great for hard and nonporous stuff.  I bet you'd have problems with it holding up under strain.  Hot glue is better for that.  And, you can easily remove it with rubbing alcohol.  

 

Something like Marine Goop might also be a good idea.

Not sure about the rattle. I'd probably go with a tube rattle that has a hole in it and attach it to the split ring and see how it ran. Most baits make a lot of noise even if it doesn't have rattles. As for you jerkbaits, lead wire wrapped around the shank of the hooks will cause them to sink and suspend. You'll have to fine tune it but that would be a start.
