I've got a 1000 on a 7'6" UL Celilo rod...great for tossing light lures like 1/32oz jigs with micro plastics. One of my crappie rigs.

ok so an update to this thread, I went to the tackle store and put a 1000 size nasci on the 901S IMX pro that they had there.

it was fine.

I am going to get this rod soon (Wifey even said so LOLOL)

but one thing is for sure: they have gone up in price. from $439 last year to $539 Canadian this year.

im still getting it l don't care LOL

this is going to replace an 18 year old Loomis GL3 SJR700 with a messed up reel seat.

it seems like the tip is nice and light and the extra length is exactly what I am looking for

Does the size of the spool (spinning) have anything to do with line management?  Example, line still coming off after the cast was made or loops? Just something to think about. 1000 or 2500 size spool?

it does but I have used 1000 size shimano reels for years in various models and never had any issues with 6 pound mono.

they cast surprisingly far for a little spool.

I've just always used them on shorter rods than this one will be

What are you fishing for that is the need for such a long rod?

Sounds like Crappie fishing to me.

I've got a President-25 (1100 size) on a 7'6" Celilo UL/F - great for whipping 1/32 and 1/64 oz jigs with micro-plastics a country mile.

I don't own a boat and fish from the shore or dock most of the time. So over the last several years Ive slowly been switching over all my rods to 1 piece longer rods for greater distance.

my main spinning rod is 7'5, my main baitcasting rod is 7'6 and my muskie/pike rod is 8 foot.

this 7'6 rod will replace a 5'10 rod.

the extra 5 or 6 inches in length over a standard 7 foot rod really makes a difference in casting distance.

I have fallen in love with longer rods big time lol

my shortest rod now is a 6'7 UL loomis trout rod lol

from ballistics, assuming you swing the longer rod at the same angular velocity,

every 20% increase in rod length doubles cast distance.

My Japanese salt finesse rods are designed for shore fishing light lures.

Big fish sip tiny lures - they don't expend much energy chasing tiny bait, because they don't get a lot back.

When the bait is winter glass minnows, you have to match the tackle.
