lazeebum Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 I just happened across a video by Randy Blaukett in which he was discussing Kieth Poche's victory in a tournament being protested. According to Blaukett, some of Poche's competitors tried to block the entrance to his extremely shallow fishing hole with rocks. Poche gained access, and won the tournament. I'm confused as to why the victory was protested.

Super User Choporoz Posted April 5, 2023 Super User Posted April 5, 2023 That tournament was over six months ago. Not sure who'd be protesting now unless newly found video show him illegally accessing water. Or were there more mobile rocks at Cherokee?

The things people can do at home now with video editing....
lazeebum Posted April 5, 2023 Author Posted April 5, 2023 I didn't realize how long ago the video was posted.
volzfan59 Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 I don't know who would have officially protested the win. It was noted by both parties that he was in contact with the tournament director the entire time. If I remember correctly, he contacted the TD as soon as he found the way to his area blocked. He contacted the TD again when some of the folks following him got out of their boats and moved the rocks that were placed in the small channel leading to his spot. Blocking a competitor's way was some real chicken ? stuff in my opinion. 3
NavyToad Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 I think I watched Blauket’s comments on this. It was just commentary and Blauket didn’t have a problem with it. Blauket’s thinking was that Poche used a specific type of boat and his competitors could have used the same type of boat. He even gave past examples of this happening. No harm, no foul. 4

I remember one year on the Louisiana delta people in air boats were driving by and blowing air on the anglers and some were shooting guns (not at them thankfully). Some people don’t want anglers in their territory. 1

Some people don’t want anglers in their territory. I don't understand that. Public waters are for everyone. I thought it was cool the way Poche won that tournament. And I also have an admiration for the anglers who know how to use modern technology. I'm no tournament angler, but I do have a certain amount of respect for the ones who are. 1
