Okuma X-series

These look promising.   Excellent components and JDM styling on these sticks.  Appear to have the same blank and guide train as the 'psycho stick', which received mostly good remarks, with weight being an issue for some.

Looks like the main differences between this rod and the Psycho stick are that it’s a 46 ton toray blank as opposed to what Okuma calls a “low resin blank” in the Psycho Stick. And the X series has UXR instead of UMR. Not sure how much those upgrades add to the rod, but the Psycho Sticks are already great rods and this series looks priced to compete with the Expride

I’ve really got my eye on these…I love the styling on them. Okuma’s version of an Expride maybe??

I agree.   The Hakai is awesome and the Helios (green colour/TCS) reels were awesome.   The rest can be stepped up

Okuma indeed has some superb reels, like the Citrix and Komodo series, but they are made by Banax.

I don't get  Komodo having them being made by Banax, since it have a full industrial plant in Taiwan.

 

Indeed, a superb reel. I have a Lexa 400HD, just because coudn't find a lefty SS Komodo.

Those reels are crazy heavy tho.

 

What do they have to compete with the Tatula's and Curado's of the world? (and not as important as function, but their reels aren't that aesthetically pleasing IMO).

Both of those reels are big boys.  They compete with other 300 and 400 size reels.  That would put them in the weight range of a tatula, lexa or tranx 300/400.  The komodo gets a synchronized level wind and a bait feeder as well making it more live bait friendly.

What you expected over heavy duty reels? Actually there is a Komodo weighting aound 180g.

 

The Hakai, Citrix, lighter komodos. But Okuma ''bass reels'' portfolio is pretty lacking.

Just read that these sticks have a Lifetime warranty.  That is a big deal!
