Sorry but another frog rod question.

Should I use my frog rod for other top water lures too? The rod is 7-3 med heavy and I have Sufix 832 braid #50 on it or just use another rod? Thanks for the input.

Yes, most MH rods can handle most if not all other baits as long as the baits are within the rods weight requirements.

I don't see why not. I know 832 isn't supposed to be quite as buoyant as some other braids, but it should still work out just fine.

Only thing I'd do is put a leader on for treble baits - spooks, other walking baits.

Probably a better regular top water rod than It is a frog rod.

I have a 7’2” Medium Heavy+ ALX Toadface. A Medium-Heavy tip to cast hollow frogs a log ways and a Heavy butt section to pull fish out of cover. This balance also allows multiple other techniques including swim jigs, Chatterbaits, and larger walk the dog lures.  Really, one of the

My 'frog rod' is currently rigged up with a 3/4 oz double willow and it going to get a work out this afternoon doing that.  I haven't told it that its a frog rod though, so it hasn't realized its limitations yet.

No.  A frog rod has more in common with a jig stick than a topwater rod.  For dual use you can just put a leader on the braid for jigs/t-rigs then cut it off when frogging.  I would use 15 lbs big game if being a cheapskate about cutting off leaders.  It's clear, it's strong and it's going to hold its knot.  I would use your jerkbait or crankbait rod for throwing normal topwaters.

I use a 735 Dobyns Fury for my frog rod. I was hoping to use it for jigs too but the sensitivity just isn't there, for me anyways. But it's a great dedicated frog rod. I have a Loomis PR844 for cranks & topwater.
