I know the yamamoto zako is popular as a popular chatterbait trailer, but are there situations when you rig it stand alone either as a swimbait or dropshot or trailer on jigs or spinnerbaits. In my mind it seems like a more coldwater option because of its tighter action.

Not that i've tried it, but you could thread it on a swing - head jig and drag it along the bottom.

(i guess thats a jig trailer...duh!

I tried using them as a stand alone, but after awhile I felt I had better options. 
 

Im sure they can be made to work in other scenarios tho. 
You just have to try them in your waters and decide for yourself
