Ok now that I have my frog line settled now I need line for my jig rod. I’m assuming that I can use what I have on my frog line for my jig rod right? Sufix 832 #50?

I ran Fenwick Iron Thread for years, 30lb braid. Worked well.

They stopped making it a while back...have since moved to PowerPro 30lb green.

Tie with a version of the Trilene knot.

It's this...and one more step...take the tag end, and go back through the big open loop.

Seems to work well.

I tend to use fluorocarbon for my jig applications, although my bfs setup has light braid on it though. I caught my biggest fish last year with my bfs setup, some like fluorocarbon for slack line sensitivity. I use the light braid to help my bfs setup to drive a heavier hook home. Either will work let the cover dictate your line size and you will be good to go. I use 14-16lb fluorocarbon and 12-40lb braid.

Braid will work and I use It for when the water is flooded and I’m pitching jigs into the heaviest cover, but normally I use 15-20lb fc. Sniper or Invisx.

55# PowerPro around lighter cover and 65# PowerPro for punching the jungle.

For jig or any bottom contact presentations the cover and structure will dictate what I use.
For light to moderate conditions 12#-16# Sniper.
For moderate to heavy 20# Shooter.

For the heaviest 50#-80# braid.

So yes, 50# braid could work fine.
Could be somewhat overkill for your needs but no real reason not to at least try it and see what you think.

Berkley Big Game 15# for light to moderate cover.

Sufix 832 50# for everything else.

I don't tend to fish braid with jigs.  My two main rods I throw jigs on are spooled with mono.  I don't like braid around wood which here means docks and a few laydowns.  Those same rods also throw vibrating jigs, spinnerbaits, topwaters, and other things.  I could throw fluoro on them but haven't felt the need to swap from 17 lb mono (suffix elite).

I occasionally throw jigs on my big rod with braid, but that's more for heavy vegetation and I'm usually throwing plastic instead.

I usually 12-20# fluorocarbon for jigs with 16# being the all-purpose happy medium, although you can use braid too. 50# braid is getting into flipping and pitching territory - I would likely use 30 or 40# for most jig duty. And likely be using a different rod too (flipping rod for 50-65# braid)

Normally 14-17 lb fluorocarbon for jigs. I don't like braid for any bottom contact applications. I only use braid for jigs if pitching into heavy cover, which I don't normally do with jigs.

15# Tatsu for light to moderate cover.

40#-50# 832 for the heavier stuff.

Overall I use 16# Sniper. But if I'm throwing lighter finesse jigs on a lighter rod I'll drop down to 12# fluoro. Or 30# braid.

Keep in mind if you're fishing around a lot of rock, braid doesn't play that well. You may wanna add a fluoro leader.

I have been using 14 and16lb Sniper BMS. Love this stuff.

I don't use braid too often.  Where I fish there are too many stumps to get snagged in but it's great around vegetation.

Only 2 places I use braid for jigs; Clear Lake and California Delta heavy cover.

SoCal lakes 12# FC, Tatsu or Shooter. Go to 10# FC during the winter for deeper jig fishing.

I use 12# Berkley 100% Fluoro for jigs. If I'm putting it somewhere nasty enough that I need something heavier, I'm generally going to be putting something other than a jig in there anyway.

I throw jigs under docks, trees, and over rocks.  I usually use 15-20# fluoro.   I don’t like braid getting hung on wood structures.   It seems to cut in and get stuck.  I also like the abrasion resistance and slack line sensitivity of Fluoro in those conditions.   If I am in heavy vegetation, I like braid with a skirted punch rig or t-rig.

I pick my way through a lot of very sharp rocks in 5-25' of dirty water. It's pretty common to encounter substantial wood cover on or very near these rocks. After some trial and error, I settled on 40lb 832 with a 5-6' 25lb FC leader (sniper). Straight braid gets cut on the rocks, and I retie so often that straight FC leaves me shallow spooled (not a big deal to some people, but it drives me crazy). I have grown so confident in this combination that I now use it for all jig fishing. I will downsize the leader for swimjigs, or if I'm on a different body of water and it's clear.

I'm running an experiment this year and going to run Trigs and Jigs on these 3 rods. I couldnt stand reading and seeing 30 different answers so here we are. Might rotate reels on rods to see if any are better/worse on a different rod and to make sure the rod itself isnt skewing what I'm finding.

Expride: 17lb Defier Armilo mono

Victory: 15lb Inviz-X floro

Kage: 30lb PP slick braid

20 lb Seagaur red label is the deal IMHO.  I also use 15 but mostly 20 because I run into big fish on jigs in wood areas quite a bit....

I use it for all my jig fishing techniques.
