MyKeyBe Posted March 29, 2023 Posted March 29, 2023 Ordered a 6'6 med. falcon hd spinning rod from amazon for the wife. They sent a falcon hd 6'8 med. casting rod instead. Really tempted to keep it. I really don't have a ton of use for it but I love me some falcon rods and about half off is certainly a good deal. Even if I keep it for a year and just find no use for it I could most likely resell it for what I'll have in it. So what would you do? Keep it and order the correct rod again or send it back and exchange for the right rod? Like I said 6'8 med. mod fast rod. Rated 1/4 - 3/4 lures. I don't fish jerkbaits or topwaters very much but I throw 3/8 spinnerbaits all the time. I already have a pretty good spinnerbait rod or two or three though. I don't know, monkey says keep it. Lol. What would you do? Quote
GetFishorDieTryin Posted March 29, 2023 Posted March 29, 2023 I find M power casting rods to be extremely versatile, so obviously I would say keep it. You really should get some confidence in JBs, def one of the best bites there is IMO. You need the right rod though and this one could possibly be it. I don't own any Falcons, but the few I've actually handled impressed me. Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted March 29, 2023 Super User Posted March 29, 2023 It's off Amazon, you'd have to drop it at a return location and ask for the right one. Or keep it and ask for the right one. Id probably keep it to go with the 10 falcons I own. 1 Quote

I have confidence in jerkbaits but I'm a bank beater, mostly ponds. Generally not a great bait in less than 3 fow. 10 minutes ago, gulfcaptain said: It's off Amazon, you'd have to drop it at a return location and ask for the right one. So that's not really a big deal. I ordered this rod Sunday night and it arrived this morning. That's the whole problem though. It's $45.00 for a new falcon rod to go with the 5 others. Then I still have to order the spinning rod for the wife. 7 falcons in the stable sounds pretty sweet. Quote

Super User king fisher Posted March 29, 2023 Super User Posted March 29, 2023 Keep it, and order another one for your wife. Maybe you will get lucky, and they will send you the wrong one again. If you are really lucky, you may end up with a whole quiver of rods, before they finally get the right one for your wife. 1 1 Quote

That would be fantastic if they were sending experts or caras but they still sent an hd. I'd end up with a quiver of downgraded rods from what I already have. Would still be a quiver of falcon rods though... Hmm. 1 Quote
Super User T-Billy Posted March 29, 2023 Super User Posted March 29, 2023 I have a 6-8 M MF. It's my small swimmer, grub, small jerkbait/popper rod. Not super versatile, but it's very good at a few things. It does a great job of keeping those crazy smalljaws pinned with the small hooks on these baits. 1 Quote
MontclairDave Posted March 29, 2023 Posted March 29, 2023 I have that Falcon. Great for smaller cranks, topwaters. Also great for 1/4 ounce chatterbaits, small Keitechs. It’s sweet spot is anything around a 1/2 ounce. My favorite for pond fishing. Just remember you can’t winch fish out of heavy cover with it—I know from experience. Hooked into a hog with a small swim jig along a bank and I didn’t move that fish an inch—reeled my kayak over to her and 7 lb later had my PB, total luck I landed that fish. So use it for stuff it CAN handle and you’ll love it. Of course keep it! 1 Quote

I already have an american made 6'6 mh mf bucoo, a 7'0 mh mf lowrider, a 6'8 med fast field and stream, and a 7'1 med fast 13 omen 3. Thinking it's time to let the f&s rod and possibly the omen go. Decisions, decisions... Quote
GReb Posted March 29, 2023 Posted March 29, 2023 Half of that rod is like $30? At that price just keep it or give it to a kid. Quote

It's actually the Ark, Tharp Series, "One Eyed Jack". I am still using a few non Ark rods, but not many. The Gen1 SLX 7'-10" H MF is a great A-rig rod, and my BFS rods are Phenix Feathers. Quote
Justbass11 Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 Just keep it and get another one…I think it would fall under the “Monkey” Quote
