Do you pond hop with more than one combo?

If so, do you just carry the extra rod(s) and lay it on the ground while you fish?  Or have some other way of carrying the extra combo?  I'm just curious if there's a better way of doing things.

NO - 1 rod, 1 reel, and whatever tackle fits in a small box, preferably in your pockets. I prefer old Rapala boxes with the clear plastic lids, or old soft plastic zip bags.

I carry 2-3 combos most bank fishing excursions. I try not to lay them on the ground as I like to keep my stuff looking new.
 

Some cheap extendable rod holders from Walmart do the trick. Stick them in the ground and lean the unused rods against them. Pull them up and repeat as I move from spot to spot.

Depending on the cover and brush I will carry 2 or 3.  I put the reels on top of the tackle bag, or I prop them up on a bush if one is nearby.

At least two. If bass aren't biting I want something rigged for panfish. Tackle is in my backpack so I can carry both rods in one hand and have the other hand free to help me climb up banks and such. I did get angry at myself last time out as I realized later I laid my spinning reel on a sandy bank and it got sand all over the spool. Will be more careful where I set it down the next time.

One rod, one reel and a small backpack (think jansport school bag) with a gallon ziplock of soft plastics, one 3700 size Plano for hard baits and a 3700 size for terminal tackle. Needle nose, extra line, scent, snack bar, and water bottle in the front pouch.

I fish the banks about 5 days a week.  I always carry one rod, MH with 15 pound floro, a Fanny pac in front around my waist, with weights, hooks, cutters, pliers, and about six packs of plastic baits.  The shore lines are so full of weeds and pads that make treble hooks out of the question.  This keeps both hands available for use all the time.  Never go without leather boots, just too many snakes.  Also keep eyes open for moving weeds, this is gator country!

I usually take 2 rods with me. I have a shoulder bag that I carry around the pond with me and when I put that down, I lay my rod on it so I don’t step on it and the reel stays out of the mud. Anything more than two rods seems to be too cumbersome.

Man I used to hop park lakes in S. Cal. 8 to 10 rods  in the car as each park was and could be set up differently.  It was like I had a bass boat with 4 wheels. But once there id  take 2-3 with me and stuck them behind my back between the pack and me to carry what I wasn't using.

In a wooded environment I carry one, in an open environment three. I take a small bag with 3500 boxes with the lures/plastics for that particular body of water, time of year, or water color. I use a 3 rod carrier for open bank areas, I don't like laying my gear on the ground. If I just have an hour or two, one combo and a few baits. Brian.

The short answer is yes. I usually bring 3 but if pressed for time, then one. If I have a lot of time, I might bring 4. 
 

I designed through necessity what I dubbed a rod quiver. I can easily hold 3 rods with one hand and I can prop the quiver on my bag to keep it off the ground. If the ground is flat, I can keep it propped straight up.

When I bank fished in SC we had thousands of lagoons in the area and I would walk, bike, or drive to many during the course of the day.

 

If I was driving I would put a few rods in my car. But biking or walking it was one 7’ MH bait caster and a backpack tackle bag.

 

I tried carrying two rods, but the way I fish from most banks is that I am constantly on the move especially when fishing parallel to the shore on bigger lagoons.

I can't catch bass standing still so I always carry one rod around the bank but my car has a few different rods rigged up for different types of presentations.

 

I tried carrying around 2-3 rods and fishing slower when I started bank fishing and it was a huge waste of time for me personally.  I spent more time trying to keep my rods from falling over or getting stuck in trees than I did fishing.

 

I usually cycle through my confidence baits and walk the bank casting high percentage areas near the parking lot until I find the first bite and that usually tells me what they want that day.

I carry one combo and usually just a few baits in my pockets. I don’t stand in one spot very long, and primarily use a T rig anyway, so  I can change baits with it quickly anytime…

Lots of times I will have 3-4 combos in my little Rogue along with 7 plano 3700 boxes.

 

Depending on how far I have to walk from the Rogue I will carry both rods & my attack bag.

I carry at least 2 rods. You never know when you may need a second one and there’s nothing better to ruin a fishing trip than not having an extra rod. I learned the hard way lol

I’ll take 3 usually and up to 5 depending on how much time I have. I carry a small bag that I have no idea where it came from but it works for me. Although the picture doesn’t do the bag justice it’s actually quite roomy and not reorganized for the upcoming season. The 2 ready rig rod bags are a 3 rod/reel and 5 rod/reel bags

2-3. I usually will just lean them against a tree or something. As long as the reel isn't in the dirt I'm fine with it.

My mother in law bought this exact bag for me a handful of years ago as a B-Day present along with the required sonotube to keep it upright ?  It stays in my basement fishing closet holding a few combos that don’t make it into the seasonal rotation. It’s actually a good concept but a flawed design in my opinion.

I try to bring at least 3 with me. Two baitcasters and one spinning. I don't mind carrying them around.
