I leave the phone in the car when I get to the lake. I wouldn’t bring it at all, but my wife makes me. I mean she “asked “ me.

I got this young lady yesterday. Almost a  carbon copy of the one I got on the 23rd. 4-10. Only 2 oz less than the other fish and not caught far apart. Now that I look at them side-by-side, they're not the same fish. I don't worry much about the background. This place is private and only a handful of people fish it. I had all 35+ acres to myself yesterday.

Keep it private or you'll just be inviting poachers to your home lakes. Good way to absolutely destroy your spots.

On the Lake (Okeechobee) which I fish the vast majority of the time, I’ll give areas, the time of the year in certain conditions etc. as I’ve done many times on here, but don’t break it down much more than that.

It takes years and years to break down a lake and really learn it especially one of its size.

But once you think you got all the clues, indicators, nuances, history and experience on it, she still has its own ways to humble.

Folks should watch Ben Millikens most recent videos.   He's literally showing it all while fishing BASS open events.    To the most minute aspect.

His belief is that the fish most likely won't be there the next time anyways.  He's a big believer in fish being moved by pressure.

The more I fish, the less I believe in "honey holes".   Depending on the year, month, weather, and a million other things, almost any place under the water can be a honey hole for a period of time.

If I fished famous public lakes though I'd still blur pics lol, Milliken is just a weird dude ?

Yes, except that places that congregate fish do so for a reason, and do so regularly more times than not.

They are nerdy, and usually can't fish a lick, but much like rod builders, you let a couple in the clique for their skills, not the fishing. Besides, gives me an excuse to go hang out at NGA or the pentagon for liquid lunch Fridays...

Where I fish most of the time it's very unusual to catch two or more good size bass off a spot. They just don't school up there. I've only done it a handful of times. So I won't waste much time at all. Sometimes I go back to a spot I feel good about though. A couple years ago in May I caught one 7.93 lb and another 5.75 lb on the same spot, both on Plopper, but hours apart. If I'd more time to kill that day I would have returned to the scene again.

I'm fishing 10-40 acre spots surrounded by trees with no boats allowed. Try fishing the few areas where access is cut to the water, and you'll fail spectacularly. The recreational fishing and poaching pressure in these zones is relentless. Wading is the answer. Some who choose to do it and happen to have a head for cracking a code can find them, but that takes time and real will. Fishbrain and Facebook posts over the past several years have pretty much killed my spots for numbers.

I'm not giving up any juice to strangers. None. If I get to know a regular who's struggling but is a real grinder no matter what, I might, maybe, give them a teeny boost once I've thoroughly educated them about the pitfalls of spilling the beans. Everyone else can go scratch out an education on their own like I did, or just give up.

Except when those places are beaten to death anyways because they are obvious places that hold fish.

Everybody wants to think they have the secret spot lol

there are no secret spots.  secret "times" maybe.

i am reluctant to send up any signals that spot A is on fire, before i can cast to it at least one more session without a bunch of hanger-ons.

I get it too. I had some beloved ponds that I also fished by wading as a kid. Then other people arrived and left with stringers of nice fish. Then they left with stringers of smaller fish. Then they left with stringers of small fish. They did leave something: trash.

I take and post pictures all the time...and why not? Helps me keep track of things....helps me prove things haha. And it so easy to take pics without ratting out the location, just a little clever foresight and adjustment. Strip that metadata before posting or sending pics, easy peasy. Or just take a screen shot. Pics at night are easy, too! Nighttime does all the background editing for ya lol. Still have to pluck out that location metadata. Most of my pics have to be taken anyway because of various tournament rules. Maybe not holding them up but at least the measuring board shots. Holding up 7, 8, 9 pounders for a glamour shot is well worth the exposure, imho.
