Tom Rust Posted March 26, 2023 Posted March 26, 2023 on a similar vein, when you lose a lure that isn't from a soft bait multi-pak, and it was catching fish, how soon do you (and how many) do you go out and get reinforcements? if a new color works for me, i cannot "not" go back to store and get several more of the new color, for fear its going to be discontinued soon. Or at least thats the lie i tell myself over and over......lol 2 Quote
Micaiah Lindquist Posted March 26, 2023 Posted March 26, 2023 I need line now, but besides that I would be good for at least 5 years 1 Quote
rboat Posted March 26, 2023 Posted March 26, 2023 I could probably go the rest of my life, but that monkey would get pretty upset. 1 Quote
Kelvin Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Not very long. Case in point I went out of my home this morning literally walked across the street to test a few lures in a canal that connects to a lake and within 20 minutes caught a peacock bass over 2 lbs, a hybrid sunshine bass (real good fighters) and a largie. Between year round tournaments, fun fishing, tourny practice, pond hopping and all the saltwater options within a 5 to 15 mile radius living in South FL has its immense advantages and its key drawbacks. Drawbacks include bait monkey constantly needs sacrifices. Which morphs into the boat monkey. The accounts are never going to be the same after that takes hold. Too many attractive right here right now options which leads to a never ending cascade of gear for both freshwater and salt. Injuries never heal since there is no OFF season unless you are forced into it. Sunscreen and bug repellent gets soaked into cars and clothes. Wind burn faces, tanned neck and ears, casting elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome and farmers tans are inevitable. Leader line is a recurring bill. Still wouldn't live anywhere else. 1 Quote
killobet Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Im only doing bank fishing. So, Im good for another 4 season. Dropshot, swimbait and senko. Quote
Super User Bankc Posted March 27, 2023 Super User Posted March 27, 2023 I try to keep my inventory levels low, so don't own a lot of backups. But I could probably make it a year or two if I needed to. Though, at the end of the second year I'd probably have to get really creative. Also, I do remelt my old soft plastics, so I've can go longer than you'd think just by looking at those. Quote
rgasr63 Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 I think I can go till next season. I just bought line this month and I really stocked up on terminal during COVID. Quote

Such a rookie statement. I have enough gear to last me to well past my expiration date and I'm still buying. As to your question, maybe two weeks during hard water season. During fishing season.............. the local BPS has my credit card number on file and they just smile and hand me my bag of stuff and say see you soon. 2 Quote
fishingram24 Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 Easily 2 or more years for everything except fluorocarbon line. I keep enough on hand to refill about a dozen reels at a time which I will do probably twice each year, more on the ones I use most. Have enough braid and mono for at least 2 years. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted March 28, 2023 Super User Posted March 28, 2023 That's quite a tricky question....If I wanted to fish how I like to, with my confidence baits I could make it through a season with what I currently have, maybe more. If I had to substitute other baits I have in their place I could probably go somewhere close to 5? Quote
Super User Munkin Posted March 29, 2023 Super User Posted March 29, 2023 Besides line I could supply 100 people on here for at least 5 years. Luremaking I just ordered 30k custom Ned head hooks. Allen Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted March 29, 2023 Super User Posted March 29, 2023 I would run out of line and maybe hooks and weights after a few years but besides those things I could probably go the rest of my life. I would run out of certain things but I would have plenty of other things to take their place. Quote
Johnbt Posted March 29, 2023 Posted March 29, 2023 I'm 72 and I may have enough stuff for the rest of my life if I stop buying. That's not likely. "Rubbermaid Commercial Products Brute Large 20-Gallons (80-Quart) Gray " is full of new spinnerbaits, just to give an example. I only buy at sale prices. My tackle bags have another 30 or so. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 29, 2023 Global Moderator Posted March 29, 2023 Probably 10-20 years if I'm trying to make it last. I've got tens of thousands of yards of line, pegs full of hooks and terminal tackle, thousands of jig hooks and hundreds of pounds of lead to be melted and poured, along with multiple storage bins full of unused bags of plastic baits. It's a heck of a lot cheaper that the hobby I picked for the off season. Quote

Mbirdsley Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 I could literally probably fish the entire year with out buying anything else. Only issue maybe certain specialty things. But, I’d just have to find another way to do it. I just wouldn’t be as versatile but, I could do it. I have enough stuff. Quote
Wildbillb Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 I honestly need to stop. I am trying to reorganize and use what I have. I just need to fish more. I have gotten bad and only fish about 50 days a year. Most of those are 3-4 day at time excursions. I need to get back to the times where I fished every day for months on end. Not sure what happened. Probably lack of people to fish with. 1 Quote
