Hi,

I’m from Midwest and looking to getting back into fishing.

what are some ways to stay committed to fishing ?

Welcome to Bass Resource @Lamb25. Are you sure fishing is something you enjoy? Normally when someone has trouble staying committed to something it’s because they don’t like it very much.

Welcome aboard.. it’s hard to say how to keep someone else committed. Some like fishing by themselves for the peace and quiet with nature. Some like the camaraderie of fishing with friends and then there’s the competitive side. You need to figure out what you’re looking to get out of it. Good luck on your journey.

Welcome aboard! Ways to stay committed...hmm. Well, first is

having fun with it. If it is too stressful with all the lures and line

and such, go simple. Live bait, simple hooks, floats/bobbers.

Feel the tug of a fish....

As for life sometimes getting in the way. I can *totally* get that.

I'm in that phase right now. I am not fishing like I was pre-Covid.

I still read up on the sport, I follow this forum almost daily and

try to stay connected even if I don't get out like I used to. My sons

try to get me out all the time, I just don't have the passion I used

to have. Again, life changes (job changes, Covid, etc).

I fully plan on getting back to a "regular" fishing habit, but not as

intense as before. Just have to find where fishing is as a priority

in your life. If it's an occasional thing, then enjoy it occasionally...

and so on. Not sure that helps you at all....
