Fueling up

When fueling up your vehicle are you a fill it up till it stops or just do said amount at a time? 
 

My fiancé only ever puts in $10-20 at a time. Where as I fill it up, like this time of year with no fishing and no hunting I fill my truck once a week. Once fishing rolls around and then hunting it’s like 2x a week I fill up. I get about a month of 1x a week if weather isn’t playing nice like this year. 
 

Like this morning taking our daughter to school she said she needed gas her light was on. She ran her errands when I went to my doctors appointment and when we both were home I was in her car again and she didn’t even have 1/4 a tank. I made the comment to her I thought she needed gas and she replied she got some I forgot she never puts a lot in. 
 

I understand when money is tight only putting a few dollars in. When you can afford to fill up though fill up I think you spend more doing $20 every time you wanna go somewhere. She doesn’t think that though.

Top it off...I'm in a rewards program that gives a $0.10/gallon discount (up to 20 gallons) for every $100 spent per trip to my normal grocery store. I don't drive all that much, so usually I have a really good discount - right now my 'balance' is $0.90/gallon.

My truck has a big tank. It takes a while to fill up and sometimes I get impatient. Especially after a long day.

I do the Exxon Mobil rewards I’ve got $23 earned so far. I’ve already cashed it in once a few months ago when I had $50 earned filled my tank for nothing out of pocket at the time. I’ve gotten “lunch” with it a few times and by lunch I mean a can of monster and Reese’s big cup.

There is actually a plus and a minus to this equation, though not a significant difference. If you gas up more often with lesser amount, then you are driving an added distance and expending additional time doing it. If you only fill up from empty, then you are committing funds earlier, and you are driving extra weight around.

i have lived thru enough blackouts and wildfires that keeping a full tanks seems "kinda smart".  plus i just waiting in a blasted line 6 cars deep.  (costco)

now if we are talking about "fueling up" our bodies, i really should stop at half tank every once in awhile.  okay, more often than that.

My ocd doesn’t allow me to only get a little. I rarely hit 1/4 tank before I fill up.

If my gauge is below 1/2 I need to fill up.  Unless on a road trip then gets down below 1/4.

My truck never has more than half a tank haha. Granted I have a company truck so mine is only used on evenings and weekends. I usually get 8 gallons, mostly because my brain is weird and I like to track mpg.

I honestly don’t remember the last time I bought gas and didn’t fill it up. I don’t have time to be stopping constantly for more gasoline.

 

I use the same fuel rewards that @MN Fisher does. 10 cents off/gal for every $100 in groceries spent. In the winter, I only buy gas for my truck about once a month so my gasoline purchase generally has a pretty good discount.

The Costco by me is a freaking zoo, both at the pumps and in the store. It got so bad I quit going there. Every time I went to buy gas, each pump was at least 8-10 cars deep. The Costco by me is a freaking zoo, both at the pumps and in the store. It got so bad I quit going there. Every time I went to buy gas, each pump was at least 8-10 cars deep. I’d wait 30 minutes to save 10 cents/gal. That got old pretty quick and I ended my membership. My time is way more valuable than that.

I go to work early. Super early. I hit Costco at 5:45 now. I just roll up like a boss.  Disaster averted.

Fill it up nearly every time, but I was recently at Arco and since they're either cash or bank card (no credit card) I gave them cash for what I guessed would fill her up. It was quite unsatisfying to see it not be full right after. ?

My car (daily driver) gets the tank filled every time I refuel. Same with my wife’s SUV. 
 

My truck, which is a weekend warrior, gets a 1/2 tank when needed, unless I’m going a distance, then I’ll fill it.

1/2 tank to me is 1/2 empty so next time out a gas stop is on the list.

I can tell you that when I bought my 1st vehicle I hated spending my paycheck at the pump.

The vehicle lived it's life on a 1/4 tank or less.

Several years later the battle started.

The entire upper part of the fuel tank started rusting which clogged fuel filters and pickup tube in bottom of tank.

 

Finally started filling up and the issue resolved itself over time.

Perhaps this is not an issue today with tank material. Idk

 

Both of my vehicles are gas hogs, lifted Jeep Rubicon and Ford F-250 with 7.3 liter gas engine......I gotta fill up if I want to get anywhere.

My neighborhood has been full of zombies for years and years and they definitely panhandle at the gas pumps
