Is this a thing? Seems like it could excel

I definitely plan on throwing one when the ice is gone.  Only started using them midway through last season but they seem like they would excel in early spring when the water is still cold.

They have produced for me on the Great Lakes with water in the low to mid 40’s. I would think that bite goes lower in temp too.

Yeah.  You can fish it like a mini hud.  I've thrown when I am dragging a jig for an ice out bite and just crawl the bait on the bottom.  I prefer a jig for this because why waste my dark sleepers and it's one of the few times my waterways have a clean bottom and I get to throw a jig.  The dark sleeper has caught fish though.  I bring them but usually just go with the jig.

The Dark Sleeper is the real deal, but it loves rocks, branches and stumps!

Be sure to bring your lure retriever and don't fish them from the bank.

Well I don't own any watercraft so that is problematic
