Fadetoblack188 Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 So I am looking to grab one of these reels for my baitcasting rod. I feel there are so many different models . I am right hand retrieve . is the sv worth the extra money? The TTUSV103H or is the TTU100HS just as good and gets the job done ? Quote
Bass Rutten Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 Generally speaking the sv’s lighter spool and braking will make throwing lighter lures and skipping easier. I own both but recommending one would be easier knowing what lures/techniques you plan to use it for. 1 Quote

I have been really happy with my other Daiwa reels too, but the SV is so versatile. If you do any skipping, casting light lures, or casting in the wind, you will be very happy with the Tatula SV!! 1 Quote
JediAmoeba Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 The SV is absolutely worth the extra money. If you prefer a smaller reel, go with the newer 103 model. If not, the old version is great. Quote
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted March 19, 2023 Super User Posted March 19, 2023 I'm still working out the T-Wing,but the rest of the SV Tat is almost magic. Quote
Tatulatard Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 It's worth it if you skip baits and have manageability issues with flourocarbon lines. The t wing and sv brake work well to tame flouro. Quote
swhit140 Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 I have the older models and I've been really happy with them. 2 Quote
Functional Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 If I had bought my tatula sv earlier I'd have far more in my boat and far less money in my pocket. Was worth every penny. Quote
A kid from Canada Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 I've had both for a couple years and just recently sold my Tatula 100 to replace it with an elite. My SV is my favourite reel and I find it more universal than just for skipping and lighter lures but im probably biased. Quote

Deeare Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Onmia had them 30% off with code marchsv. If it doesn’t work email them and ask them if they will honor the code. They usually do. Quote
Big Hands Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 If you have something special that you want to do with it, the SV might be worth it, but the CT Fuego shares many of the same parts with the SV TW, with the absence of the T-Wing and a non-SV spool design being the most significant differences. Personally, the T-Wing makes more sense on paper than it does in real life for me, and it can hang up on knots that pass through it. It wouldn't be that big of a deal if he Tatula didn't come with it, especially when it sells for half the price. I think that since I don't count on the SV TW to throw lighter lures, that I would rather have two Fuego CT reels than a single SV TW. YMMV. 1 Quote

Super User PhishLI Posted March 21, 2023 Super User Posted March 21, 2023 If you aren't a braid to leader type and are likely to use stiffer mono like XT, copoly like Advance, and less than premium fluoro, the T-wing is the way to go. Stiffer plastic lines simply flow through it and are easier to manage. It's a noticeable difference to me, so all of my T-wing reels are spooled with some type of plastic line. My 2 Fuegos are spooled with straight braid. No steenkin' leaders for me, no offence. 2 Quote

FrnkNsteen Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Did a search and found a couple forum threads from 2020, and references on various sites, all outside of the US. Never seen this before. Quote

It's a CDM reel. @Bluebasser86 bought one AFAIK. Perhaps he has the latitude to speak about how and where to find one. 1 Quote

I've owned one for a couple years now that I use for jerkbaits. The reel is great for what I'm using it for because I'm using very wind resistant baits in windy conditions and it helps a ton preventing backlashes, even with lighter baits like a 78 pointer. I also like the standard line guide versus the T-wing in freezing conditions because it doesn't load the spool unevenly when it starts to ice. I bought mine on Aliexpress and I'd like to buy another couple of them but just haven't yet. 2 Quote

Tatulatard Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 2 hours ago, FrnkNsteen said: I like that! Is that something new? Chinease market fuego using a 17 tatula sv spool in red. It has the "hard to turn spool knob" as well so you can adjust it zero times. There are daiwas for various markets that have little differences like this. There is also the salamandura line of tatulas for the chinease market as well as prorex reels from diawa scandinavia. Australia got this olive drab fuego ct. There is also a distance tuned braid special tatula 100 with a power handle on it called the HRF pe special. With any of these reels you are buying from a different market and won't have warranty with daiwa USA but they aren't so unique that the parts aren't different from a standard reel that they can't be maintained yourself with US spourced parts. There is fishing in all of asia that uses tackle similar to bass tackle. Snake head species and predatory catfish are common sport fish. AE is a trip. I've been down the rabbit hole and seen some things. Quote
