Super User Sam Posted March 16, 2023 Super User Posted March 16, 2023 So what is "backwards" in your life these days now that we can get back to our normal lives? I mean things that did not happen in the past but is happening today. Example: At LSU, the P-Mac is stuffed to its rafters for gymnastics while the men's basketball team attracts about 5,000 fans. Usually, this is the other way around, with basketball leading the attendance records in the P-Mac and a bunch of high school girls watching the gymnastics. My wife had her spine reconstructed at Duke Medical Center three years ago that was very successful and for a lady who could hardly walk and had continious back pain, she is now working part-time at Talbots and was told by Talbots management that she was an excellent employee and they are glad she is working for them. And this is her first time working retail!!! Give this topic your thoughts and let us know how things are "upside down" in your fishing, careers, sports, hunting, family events, etc. as we approach the height of our fishing season. Quote

Super User Mobasser Posted March 16, 2023 Super User Posted March 16, 2023 I'm taking a course on computers at a local college. Otherwise, ready for fishing. 1 1 Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted March 16, 2023 Super User Posted March 16, 2023 Well I'm thankful I had other options with my captain's license. Haven't been able to go back to the offshore and oil industry in the Gulf of Mexico, but found a home back in S. Cals long range sportfishing fleet. Good when your boss is a bass fisherman so I'm able to plan my time off for tournaments. 1 Quote

Super User BrianMDTX Posted March 16, 2023 Super User Posted March 16, 2023 I just to hunt like it was a religion, and rarely fish. Now I fish like a religion and last year didn’t hunt at all. 2 1 Quote

I know a couple people who have done the program and highly recommend it. Great for immediate job placement when it’s over. Definitely a weird feeling that I’ll be going to college in my 30s, and probably having to put my business aside for the time being but luckily I have a really supportive girlfriend, and it probably wouldn’t be possible without her. This should be much better long term. The few years of landscaping has already taken such a toll on me physically, I had to change something up! I don’t want to feel like I’m 60 by the time I’m 40. 4 1 Quote

Work smarter, not harder it sounds like. Impressive all around by you and your awesome girlfriend. In a decade or two you'll be saying this was the best decision the two of you made together. 1 1 Quote

Super User DitchPanda Posted March 16, 2023 Super User Posted March 16, 2023 Biggest thing for me in the last 15 months is a change in schedule. I've always worked weekends and holidays since I was 17 years old. January of 22 I started doing Monday thru Friday 7-330. Had a 4 month stint back on 12hr shift but the other 11 months I've been doing the 5 day thing. To say I'm happy to be home every weekend and home from work at 345pm instead of 730 would be an understatement. Has really changed my outlook on the job. 4 1 Quote

I did get rid of cable TV recently and started streaming after my family gave me a flat screen for Christmas… Im going to have to figure out how to get SEC football on it before the fall though… 2 1 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted March 16, 2023 Global Moderator Posted March 16, 2023 I’m left handed so everything has been backwards my entire life! 2 6 Quote
Super User Bird Posted March 16, 2023 Super User Posted March 16, 2023 I was once a workaholic and abruptly retired, a request by the wife. Fishing has quenched the desire to work. Really thought I'd hate retirement. Does this qualify as backwards ? Oh, glad to hear you're wife had successful surgery. 1 Quote

She has over 10 million online followers, has received 7 figures in endorsements, and is the highest valued female college athlete in the entire country. 1 Quote

Is she the LSU gymnist that recieved three "10s" in a row in the SEC tournament? Quote

Honestly I have no idea. I just know she’s extremely popular and that’s presumably why everyone is packing the gymnastics events. Quote
Craig P Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 I wish I had something positive to write but I don’t. I’ve worked for myself the last 20 years so my daily schedule is the same and it has remained status quo. As much as I hate to be negative, because I have “working for myself liberties” I’ve enjoyed fishing when others don’t fish but the last couple of years, every day is a Saturday on the lakes I fish. I don’t mind pressure, the wake boats and waverunners, not so much. I need everyone to get back to working full time, in person. 4 Quote
Super User king fisher Posted March 17, 2023 Super User Posted March 17, 2023 I am getting shorter, but heavier, I have more tackle, but fish less, and The bass bite best at my favorite lake in the afternoon when the wind blows hard, but the harder the wind blows, the more difficult it is to fish. 3 Quote
