Super User N Florida Mike Posted March 15, 2023 Super User Posted March 15, 2023 5 days a week I usually have 1 cup of medium black. Every now and then I’ll have 2. On friday night/saturday morning when I’m on security patrol at church, I’ll drink 2, and a cup of hot chocolate in between. Sunday morning at church, 2-3 cups . Always medium black. If there’s no medium , I’ll take whatever I can get… Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 15, 2023 Super User Posted March 15, 2023 Every morning Community Dark Roast, 4 cup coffee pot is actually 2 cups for me. Quote

Woody B Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 (in my best Billy Bob Thorton/Slingblade voice) Coffee makes me nervous when I drink it. mmm I don't drink coffee. I don't like hot beverages. I mostly drink water and unsweet tea. I used to drink a BUNCH of SunDrop. (citrus flavored soft drink) but I haven't had a soft drink in a decade or more. Any SunDrop drinkers here? It's a regional thing I think. The mostly young people I work with worry me pounding these "energy" drinks. I was looking at one of their cans the other day. It had something like 200mg caffeine. I don't believe caffeine is as bad as some think, but 2 or 3 cans a day with 200mg of caffeine can't be good. Quote
wdp Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 I absolutely love coffee but only started drinking it about 15 yrs ago. I drink 2 cups in morn to jumpstart the motor when I get to work & drink 2 more around 2 to kinda keep the motor running. Had a work buddy introduce me to 100% Colombian about a yr ago. Best coffee I’ve had by far. Even the cheap Walmart brand columbian is good stuff. Quote

Super User NYWayfarer Posted March 18, 2023 Super User Posted March 18, 2023 One cup of Black Rifle coffee just black blend. Drink it black with 2 equal. Quote
Susky River Rat Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 I do not drink coffee. I never liked the taste of it black. Adding flavorings and sugar to it seems to me to defeat really liking coffee itself. It’s like needing to put fruit in your beer. If you need to do that to drink it you aren’t drinking the right beer. On 3/15/2023 at 8:04 PM, Woody B said: The mostly young people I work with worry me pounding these "energy" drinks. Super User gim Posted March 19, 2023 Super User Posted March 19, 2023 There is no scientific backed study that indicates negative side effects from drinking coffee. As long as you aren’t sticking sugar, cream, or artificial sweetener in it, it’s perfectly fine to drink. It may or may not discolor your teeth. I can assure you that drinking an energy beverage is FAR worse for you than drinking coffee. 4 Quote

I stopped drinking coffee when I retired. But I have been drinking an energy /pre-workout drink before training for almost as long as you have been alive. Haven't seen any ill effects. So I'm not buying your assurance. A-Jay 1 1 Quote

KP Duty Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 I drink instant...Nescafe. 2 16oz cups with sucralose(splenda) and italian sweet cream flavored creamer. I was a straight black coffee drinker...not sure what changed, but now my coffee is more like a cappuccino. Quote

Used to drink caffeinated soda like it was water as a youngster and in to high school. Noticed the high's and low's...so swapped out to caffeine free...then quit soda/pop all together in college. About all I drink is water with the occasional adult beverage maybe once a month. I'm a morning person and generally up and going before sunrise. Never had a cup of coffee in my life and not a soda drinker, but I am hooked on the caffeine powder flavor packets that I add to water. I’m drinking far too much each day and know I need to cut back. BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted March 20, 2023 BassResource.com Administrator Posted March 20, 2023 Okay, let's not let this thread degenerate into the "science" of anything. This is a fun thread. I have 1 cup of stout coffee each day. Mind you, 1 "cup" is more like an 8-oz mega mug, and it's STRONG coffee (hey, I'm from Seattle, whatyadda expect?). So it's more like 4-5 cups for you medium-strength-diner-coffee folks. I've learned not to have any coffee prior to a Dr's visit, else they freak out over my BP. LOL! 4 Quote
VolFan Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 I had that a few weeks ago for my annual check-up. No blood work so no fasting and I did my normal breakfast/coffee routine. When she did my blood pressure she sat there for a second, sighed, and then said, ‘maybe a little less coffee before your next visit.’ Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted March 20, 2023 Super User Posted March 20, 2023 I have been drinking coffee since I was a teenager always black no sugar. As a young adult I drank coffee all day. Now I only drink one big cup a day after rising. Quote

Super User Bankbeater Posted March 21, 2023 Super User Posted March 21, 2023 At work I used to drink 4 or 5 cups each day before noon. I gave that up a couple of years ago so now it's straight ice water. Now the only time I have coffee is at home. I will have a cup or two before I leave for a fishing trip. Quote
Steveo-1969 Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 M-F I’ve been drinking 45 ounces of coffee in the morning. I recently cut that down to 30 ounces. On the weekend I might drink up to 54 ounces. I like my coffee strong. As a general rule it’s 2 tablespoons of ground coffee for every 6 ounces of water. 3 Quote
Craig P Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 One pot a day and maybe an additional 20 ounce cup if I am out and stop by WaWa. But does it count if it’s all decaf? Yep, black decaf is all I drink. Quote

Yep, black decaf is all I drink. I have to drink decaf also. Doctor's order. I haven't had a cup of caffeinated coffee in 20+ years. It took awhile to get used to and I use a couple of teaspoons of sugar when I drink it. At least I get a sugar boost in the morning. My coffee maker has 12 cup carafe. That works out to about 3 cups for me. Depending on what I'm doing I can finish off a pot in a day. Usually 2 cups a day. It took me awhile to get the coffee the way I like it, strong and black. Once every month or 6 weeks. I buy a couple of bags of decaf expresso, decaf French roast and/or Italian roast beans along with a bag of medium roast beans. I mix them together and put the beans back in the bags and store them in my freezer. Grind them as I need them. I won't use tap water to make my coffee. My sister gave me a Brita system that I use to filter the water for my coffee and ice cubes. It's more expensive than buying ground coffee but it tastes so much better. I'd be doing the same thing if I were drinking caffeinated coffee. If I buy a cup, it's usually either WaWa or Dunkin' Donuts. 2 Quote
