Those that have used both Suffix advance mono and Sunline defier armilo....which did you prefer? would you say one is better than the other? why do you prefer one over the other?

You may have trouble finding someone who fished both. I have only fished the Advance. I love it. I have tested stretch at approx 13 percent and it happens right near the break strength. I wouldn't use it on spinning. It's awesome on baitcasters. I think it's more sensitive than flouro. Have had no problem with abrasion resistance. Ive used many other mono lines since 1968. Stretch is definitely half of most mono lines. Sensitivity is far superior to the mono and flourocarbon lines I've used.

I use elite as my primary mono.  I tried advance and it had way too much memory for me. It was a hard line and tied great knots. I’m sure the abrasion resistance is good. It did remind me of fluoro in a lot of ways.

My second line is sunline supernatural. I haven’t tried defier.  I considered it but went supernatural and I’m glad I did.  Very small diameter and decently limp, but still quite a smooth coating and ties great knots. I have 12 and 14 on my lighter rods.

I have used both and regular Defier... Sunline Defier Armilo hands down.

Short version, my experience with Advance was just bad. Defier has been great and lasted multiply seasons. I also use Elite and Siege so I am not trying to dog Sufix. Both lines have worked for me but Defier is on another level of quality.

I agree with everything you said, but I might add it casts really well, too. Every time I think about trying another line I always ask myself how could it be better than Advance. I love this line! Now...I hope I didn't just jinx myself for the upcoming year.

Sufix Siege is the best mono ive ever used and ive tried most of them

its rare in that its tough and strong yet limp enough to use on spinning gear too

Agree on the casting distance.

Geeeez, Sunline must really like that line too.   $21 for 165 yds.   Yikes.  It must be amazing.

I think I will skip it too.  I have used Advanced in the past, but I might need to try it again for some moving baits.   I don’t remember having any complaints about it.   I think I remember it casting like a dream.  Mills Fleet Farm has good sales on it, so I will wait until it gets cheap.  We still have so much darn snow I have some time.   ?

Since you’re in Wisconsin, Fleet Farm has great deals when they put line on sale, although, not as good as in the past when the Mills family still owned it.

I just changed to Suffix this year except for my Frog rod and jig rod and so far I’m glad I did.

if you like cxx then advance might be right up your alley. I hated cxx also for the same reasons as advance.  Cxx is probably a little more wiry but they are close.

I started using it last season on a couple of bait casters.  Primarily with spinnerbaits and jerk baits.  No complaints here and I will be using it again this season in moss green color.

Thanks!   Can I ask what lb. Test you used for spinner baits?   I was thinking 15 lb. I am just not sure how it handles.

Haven’t used either but just started using Sunline Shooter Defier. It’s very supple and the 15 lb. is the same diameter as 12 lb. Big Game.

it’s pricey. Have to see how long it lasts. But so far I like it.

I use 12 lb.  I'm sure 15 would be fine too.  Its not as thick as standard mono and has less stretch too.

It's really really good line.  I am a fluoro junky but if Defier Armilo came on bulk spools and/or came thinner then 11lb, it's the only line I would use other then the odd bit of braid.

Really!?   Wow, that is a solid testimony.  Now you have me thinking I better try some.  I am mostly fluoro as well.  So you would use it for everything?   Jigs, T-rigs, moving baits, top water?   I am trying to figure out what technique I want to try it for.    It would have to be better than fluoro for me to spend $22 for 165 yds. I may dive in and give it a try.  I have room in my TW cart.

I asked @WRB for advice and he suggested the Sunline Shooter Defier. That was enough to get me to try it. Glad I did!

I find it to fish a lot like Fluoro in terms of feeling "solid" and having a connected feel to the lure as it's falling through the water column, but it's noticeably easier handling in terms of memory and knotting.  I use the 11lb for poppers it's supple enough for them but still works well for fishing a fluke on the same combo.  Right now Sniper Fluoro is my "default" line, but I think DA equals or beats it, but the lack of bulk spools kills me.

Wow, now I have to try it.   How is the abrasion resistance?
