The new 2023 models of the tatula elites has two jerkbait rods.

Anyone know the difference in these rods? Would it be an over simplification to say one is more open water/ smallmouth and the other is around cover /largemouth?

Which would throw a 110 best?

The Walters is a 6’10” Medium 1/2- 1 1/2 oz lures.

The Feider is a 6’9” Medium Light, 3/8-5/8 oz lures.

Rating the Walters a medium is a ? usually a Heavy power.

MB Vision 110 weighs 1/2 oz!

I believe Daiwa USA borked the lure rating on that rod, 1/2 to 1-1/2 rating is a heavy power rating, highly unlikely for a medium powered jerkbait rod. I've had my eye on that Feider rod for some time now to use as a dedicated topwater rod, this new version might be my breaking point.

Daiwa has some odd ratings for some of these new models (Walters jerkbait, both Cory Johnston's 7'5" rods, Chris Johnston's hair jig). That being said, the Feider rod is too light or action for me. It felt like it would be best with a tatula 70sv and used for 110 jr's and the like. I had one for a short time and it just didn't feel right with a standard 110 or anything above that in weight, so my vote would be the new Walters rod.

Bump old thread some things I found of the rod bending.  I have the Ags 6'10 Walters rod.  I think a may be a little faster and stiffer than I'd like for great lake small mouth rod.  🤔 really thinking now if I'd gone the 6'9 seth for 110's.  But I gotta say the new reel seat feels way better than my Expride 6'10 and my Xx Jerkspecial.  Love the reels seat.  It balances quite well with the Tat70sv right at the end corner of the foregrip.  Walter rod on top

Bumpasaurus - I picked up the Feider rod and an alphas 800 last May and I find it's happiest right at about 3/8oz, it's an absolute joy of a combo. I'm considering the walters rod now and was wondering if you, or anyone, has tried doing any cranking with it. I imagine that taper and power would be great for bigger squarebills. How accurate have you found it's 1/2oz to 1 1/2oz lure rating to be? What weight or weight range would you say is it's sweet spot?

Love this visual!

For jerkbaits, I would easily choose the bottom rod. The power and action of the Walter rod (top) looks more suited to a shallow cranking rod to me.

Just wondering if anyone has been using the seth feider jerkbait rod over the past year and how does it handle 1/2 oz jerkbaits? have only ever thrown a medium power jerkbait rod and not a medium light.

I have the former and current Feider's as well as a Megabass Jerkbait Special. I throw all my visions except for the +2's on the Feiders. The rod also doubles as a fantastic small top water rod.

Many people think it doesn't have enough power to fish the jerkbaits well but I think those people are overpowering them. Jerkbaits have tiny hooks and they bend/break easily.

Yes the Vision 110s especially have tiny Finesse hooks on them. I've bent a few out using a Dobyns 705CB. There was one YouTube video that said the Fieder was made in a lighter power to pair better with the lighter hooks and that the Walters was more for FFS. The problem for me is I like to use a regular sized Rico or Pop Max popper in the summer or use smaller squarebills and I'm not sure the Fieder could handle either. They both seem to be one trick ponies, with the Walters able to do a tad bit more.

I use the feider's for full size yellow magics all the time. They work great

I just find it way too whippy for a 110.

The Walters Tatula Elite jerkbait rod is an AGS rod.

The Feider Tatula Elite jerkbait rod is not an AGS rod.

After lusting for the Tatula Elite Feider Hair Jig rod for a couple years, I finally got to hold one and look it over at the local tackle emporium. There was a small tag attached to the rod that said not to use a a leader attached to braid that was more than 3 feet long. Presumably that is so that you wouldn't need to cast a braid to leader connection knot through their AGS guidetrain. No thank you. If that is the case with all of the Tatula Elite AGS rods, that is a no-go for me, but YMMV.
