oldnewguy Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 I've been looking for a new spinning rod. A 7' M/F do-it-all setup for pond hopping. Nothing bait or technique specific. Just an all around set-up. I've checked out everything I can get my hands on, and was about to go for an Expride. But I picked up a St Croix Legend Elite, and it felt really nice. And with the Midway promotion, they'd be about the same price. Any thoughts either way? Quote
MiceNReets Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Go with what feels right. And if there is a promotion. Even better Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 9, 2023 Super User Posted March 9, 2023 I have owned several Legend Elite over the years. This is a fine line of rods. Take a look at their newest models, Legend Tournament: https://stcroixrods.com/products/legend-tournament-bass-2022-new-models Quote
Loomis13 Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 No experience with the expride, but have some with the adrena series. If they are similar, the croix will be a little faster action which I prefer. You may or may not. And the croix will handle a heavier range of baits, but not be able to go as light as the expride. Others might confirm or contradict this. Both will be good rods. Quote
softwateronly Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 I have many exprides and love them. But I would take a chance on the legend elites at that price. scott Quote
GetFishorDieTryin Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Both are great, but IMO the SC warranty makes it an easy decision. 1 Quote
newapti5 Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 I have the casting model of both lines. In short, Legend Elite is more sensitive, but Expride is balanced better. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted March 10, 2023 Global Moderator Posted March 10, 2023 St croix! (But I haven’t tried expride) Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted March 10, 2023 Super User Posted March 10, 2023 I really like fishing both of those rods and you can't lose with either, but the made in the USA and no hassle warranty would give the edge to the St Croix IMO. 1 Quote
