In a recent video Randy Blaukat does his usual rant against Livescope and says 80% of anglers are opposed to it.   I find that hard to believe.  If it’s true then why aren’t local tournament organizations cashing in on the demand for tournaments that ban live sonar?  Do you think 80% of anglers are opposed to live sonar?  Do you currently have it?  Has it ruined the mystery and magic of fishing for you?

I usually enjoy Randy's videos but can't say I'm opposed to live scope......my wallet is.

Around here it's 60-40

60% have it, with many saying they use it in situations.

Opposed?

It's here ?

Hahahah. Come on @Tennessee Boy, you gonna believe a number he made up ? If he’s talking to a camera, he’s throwing out made up numbers. 85.6% of his facts are erroneous

I don’t have it, don’t want it, not opposed to it whatsoever. To say it will harm fishing is an insult to fish

I’m going to go out in a limb and guess 100% that have it support its use, and 100% of those that don’t have it but can afford are against it…

I'm opposed to live sonar.  And until it comes down in price to something I can convince my wife to let me have, that will remain my position.

How’s it go- “ If you aren’t moving forward you’re falling behind.”

And yes I do have it. What I’ve learned when using it is there’s A LOT of fish down there that prior to FFS I would’ve thought just weren’t there.

In my opinion it still comes down to being in the right place at the right time and doing the right thing with the right bait to get bit. Technology just helps and will continue to do so

As a recreational angler I really don't give two squirts. In a tournament setting there's already plenty of things that affect the 'purity' of the sport or whatever you want to call it. Unless they're going to go the stock route and have every angler fish the same boat with the same preset rigs I say let them do whatever they want.

I could afford it if I wanted to.  I don't think I would get very much use of out if though, primarily being a bank/structure/shallow water fisherman.  I am not opposed to someone else using it.

I don't fish tournaments, but I think there needs to be a limit on units in competition.  We don't need someone showing up with 8 units mounted like someone did on the PMTT last July.

I am for it, I also have it. I was also for it when I did not have it.

I find it hard to believe the 80% of anglers oppose it. I would like to see the study.

Never forget Randy did a video on the A-Rig but instead of using swimbaits he had 5 Vision 110's rigged on it. One of his "top secrets". The guy is just a troll looking for views.

I'm not apposed to it, I see it as a tool.

I have no electronics on my small 14' boat, I caught fish at every lake I fished last year so I don't complain.

In a few years when I get a larger boat with electronics I would like to learn how to use it to have the ability to locate more fish and ability to find areas you don't know are under the water.

You still have to present the bait to the fish to get them to commit to bite it.

Remember when basic 2d sonar became a thing that anybody could afford and it was so neat, still I think it's so neat, even the cheaper versions that aren't as clear. I am not apposed to livescope, I still don't quite understand how to read it well, maybe if I understand it better I will have a more educated opinion, but for now i just look at it as a better fish finder.

And all these years I thought you were reading my posts……… ?

I’ve posted this story on here many times, but I was fishing a set of rapids with my friends, and we had three guys in the boat, all getting skunked for several hours.     It was super hot and confidence was low so I jumped into the water and started swimming. My buddy said he had a diving mask and a snorkel if I wanted to use it. Turns out we were fishing amongst a whole bunch of large smallmouth bass. The fish are always there, most often ignoring the efforts of fishermen. Or following the lure without biting, heck they would follow me while I was swimming and even mean mug my mask face to face

Diving mask: the original forward facing sonar

For the common man hell yeah! its fine to use whatever to catch fish... however on tournament level doesn't feel right to me, it lowers the value of experience and knowledge and replace it with a video game screen with a dropshot for controller.. its like hunting with drones with thermal cameras.

Such high dependence on electronics its just one more reason tournament fishing lost we a while back and now couldn't care less..

Now this dude's videos are another point for conversation..

I'm no more opposed to LiveScope or FFS than I am someone using an $800 driver in a golf tournament. At the end of the day, you still need to get the fish to bite or put the ball in the hole.

I do fish tournaments, but almost invariably I start shallow and work my way deeper if I need to. I'll be the first to admit that I can't afford it. Actually, let me rephrase that, my marriage can't afford it, but I don't know that I'd get a ton of use out of it even if I could.

I’m all for it. I use it but I don’t stare at it or depend on it. Every few years something new comes along there’s controversy.  You can either embrace it or not that’s our/your choice.

I'm fine with FFS. I'm sure I'll buy a unit one of these days, maybe soon. I am however, opposed to Randy Blaukat's B.S.

When I retire and get a boat and can afford FFS then I will come up with an opinion.
