Hate to guess the price on that one!!  Down the road, if there is an issue, bet you cant work on it yourself !!!!  Sometimes progress is amazing but not very practical for the average folks...

If you're used to DYI outboard maintenance, this is no different.  And Suzuki has always made competitively priced products.

But hey, it's fun to make up stuff, isn't it?

I like their matte black one with the red accents.

I had a Suzuki 60 four stroke for 20 years and it was a wonderful engine.  Never had a bit of trouble, started in the spring like it was turned off only minutes before.  I changed the plugs, oil, and lower unit grease, had the water pump impeller changed once.  Could hardly hear it idle.  Wonderful engine.

Modern automotive technology, as well as other technology has been creeping into boat motors for a while.  It's nice to see Suzuki advancing this technology.   Just like modern automobiles modern boat engine start quickly, even when cold, deliver massive amounts of power and sip fuel compared to older ones.  Also, there's no longer a plume of smoke, or oil trail in the water following these newer engines.

Many people (including myself at times) resist newer, better technology.   I embrace new clean running, powerful boat motors but I'm not ready for the electric stuff.

I enjoy newer stuff as well, but when it costs you your first born and you cant make your own repairs, it puts it out of reach of the average boater.  When dealers are charging 500 to replace a water pump, and new vehicles average service bill in 2022 was over 800 dollars for maintenence service....and they wonder why car sales are slow??  These new motors are in excess of 20K with install and rigging!!!

I have a 40HP 4 stroke that is 23 years old. It just keeps running.

I recently bought a Suzuki 20HP.  The water pump stopped working. I shut it down and took it to the dealer. Since it is new I was keeping track of the hours for brake-in period. My notes showed I had slightly less than 4 hours on it.

The dealer ran it and the water pump worked but they replaced it.

What surprised me was that a 20HP motor has a computer. The computer recorded an "overheat" warning and recorded the total time the motor had been run. According to the computer I had run the engine for 3 hours and 50 minutes which jived with my notes.

I think most modern engines probably have the run time computer, but my dealer charges $20 to read it (Merc 60 4 stroke).  I put on an hours recorder that is simply an LCD readout (with a tiny processer) with a wire that wraps around a plug wire.  Works fine.

Slight hi-jack, but modern technology related.  Vessel View mobile, Mercury 50 4 stroke.
