Super User PhishLI Posted March 5, 2023 Super User Posted March 5, 2023 Starts on the 8th. Just checked the roster. No Bobby Lane. I thought he said he'd defend regardless of the fact he was going back to BASS. I believe he said that on Mercer's YT channel. Quote
InfantryMP Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 I was trying to go this year, but I could not make it happen...the kids spring break fell the same week. Quote
Cbump Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 I like Erhler a lot. I’d like to see him, Stephen browning, mark Davis, ott defoe, Dakota ebare, Jesse Wiggins, or Jacob wheeler win It. Quote

Tough 1st day in general for weight. Like a Sabine river tourney. Quote
Cbump Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 I’m going to have to stay off the forums though. Lol I like to watch the entire tournaments but I’m always behind. I’m finishing up day 2 of the tackle warehouse Clark Hill event. Then I’ll start Redcrest. If I’m not careful I’ll end up seeing who won, which happens pretty much every time lol 8 minutes ago, PhishLI said: Wiggins caught a ton, but so many smalls mixed in. I liked seeing him last event dragging in what he thought was a catfish as quick as he could on a crankbait. Like not being gentle at all, just horsing It. Once It surfaced It was an 8 lb bass. He liked to freak out. 1 Quote

KP Duty Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 I like watching pro tournaments that I think I could compete. Just watched a video following Dakota and Evers, with Dakota throwing a wacky senko to shoreline cover and docks, and Evers saying "I'm just fishing stuff that looks good" with his topwater. Simple fishing/approaches to a body of water. It's when they locate a magic offshore spot that 'reloads' and they are able to camp out there all day catching fish that makes me think "These guys are way better than me". 1 Quote
InfantryMP Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 I actually think this lake is a bit tougher than usual. The small spots are making it tough to really have a good protected bag from any other angler. We all know the competition is good, and yea a lot of them are using a wacky rig or something similar, it is who can do more to earn that bigger bite? Well that is why the pros are way better than me too. Those adjustments, and knowing when to leave are key. 2 Quote
Super User NorthernBasser Posted March 10, 2023 Super User Posted March 10, 2023 Connell gonna be kicking himself if he doesn't get that 5th fish here. Quote

Super User NorthernBasser Posted March 11, 2023 Super User Posted March 11, 2023 Connell at the buzzer AGAIN. He was dead in the water and then caught 2 fish just under 4# each in the last 50 minutes or so. Lol wow. 7 hours ago, treble hook said: Guess where I was yesterday… We had a blast… That's great. Super User NorthernBasser Posted March 11, 2023 Super User Posted March 11, 2023 During the live coverage when Connell caught the first 4-pounder that put him within striking distance of the cut he mentioned throwing a Magdraft. Once it was over and they were talking to the anglers about what was working for them today, he says he caught those final two 4-pounders on the Bass Mafia Daingerous swimbait (which is a complete knockoff of the Magdraft that Zaldain "designed" when he left Megabass). So I wonder if he was actually using the Bass Mafia and accidentally said Magdraft or if he was using a Magdraft and was caught up in the moment when he mentioned it, and then lied afterwards. Don't wanna upset those sponsors! 1 Quote

Tlauz Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 I like watching guys struggle a bit. I like to see their decision making process. Glad Thrift won. 2 Quote
Ski Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Thrift with the win, Thought A. Montgomery would of had a much better week but he flopped bad. Quote
Pat Brown Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Bryan Thrift did an amazing job remaining consistent and getting big bites around docks with his swimbait. A great representation of what NC has to offer. Bass fishing here is tough but rewarding and Thrift is a master. Met Brian Latimer and talked with him quite a bit at the expo and he was one of the nicest dudes ever! We chatted SC fishing and the spawn down there. Congratulations to Bryan Thrift! Well deserved win at Redcrest representing NC! 4 Quote
