Anyone tried this squarebill? Tacticalbassin reccomended it and it's not very often they mention Rapala. It's usually R2sea and Megabass for them.

A rapala made from wood is basically a gycb soft bait.  It'll be a heck of fish catcher no doubt but don't expect durability of other hard baits.  A plastic rapala is like those gycb hard baits they tried that one time.  Ew.

Ott Defoe just did a video for *** featuring it.. I think he helped develop it. It looks awesome in the water.. I’m not a big crankbait guy but I was thinking of picking a couple up to try.

I'll pick one up within a week or so......I meant to buy the Rocco 5 instead of the Tiny 4 which are both highly recommended and from Ott's "OG" line.

Tiny 4 produces, not pretty though like a MegaBass or Jackall, excessive glue around the lip, and the finishes just don't have enough flash for me.

I get what youre saying, but Rapala has some decent plastic baits.  X rap family, Shadow rap/shad and all of the traps are plastic.

I fished it a couple times. Caught 1 decent fish on a red crawdad color. They look good in water and deflect well of structure.

I prefer the Frittside 5 and Frittside 7

I only have the 5 and 10, but I agree on so much that the Berkeley bait is so much more refined.  Equally sharp hooks as the gamas on the OG series baits, and has a great subtle colder water wobble.   It shined for me once the water got cold from Fall to Winter.    Like Rapala though, Berkeley finish options leave a lot to be desired.   I just went with that kentucky blue.

I have not picked it up yet. Being the Rapala junkie I am, I wanted to see it first without ordering blindly. Do doubt it will work. I didn’t jump on the OG Slim bandwagon real quickly but finally did last season. I fish them like a DT. My be designed for cold water but I throw it at anytime.

Kind of reminds me of the Strike King KVD crankbaits.

I like the OG4 and 6.   I like wood baits,  I like flatside cranks and I'm a cheapskate.  The 4 and 6 fit all of these requirements.   Occasionally I'll get one with the bill glued in really bad.  I've got them replaced.  So....I bought a couple Rocco 5's.  The bill was crooked on both of them.  They're a square bill instead of a flatside.

Are the Berkley frittsides wood?

No, but they really are excellent baits.   Similar price yet totally different level of refinement and QC.

I caught my first limit of the year today on the Frittside 5.. I throw it on 8lb fireline and 8lb Berkley Flouroshield on a spinning reel..

I like to throw the following:

Late Winter/Early Spring: Red Craw

Late Prespawn/Spawn: Ghost Morning Dawn

Post Spawn/Early Summer: MF Bluegill

Late Summer/Fall: Kentucky Blue

In dingy or heavy stained water I’ll throw the Mustard Shad or Black/Chartreuse

Took delivery on a few new baits today. Tried to find the Rocco 5 locally without any luck. They appear to be a great bait and I expect it to work as well as DT’s, OG 6’s or any of my Rapala’s for that matter. Silent balsa square bill, can’t wait to use these in shallow laydowns. Only chose a few productive patterns I already use.

2x. Sticking with my bagleys. They all ran good, but they didn’t catch fish for me so it’s a no go
