Well I just got back from picking up my new boat and overall I will say that I am pleased. I have a 12 foot Jon Boat and this is a 14 Foot Jon.

The 5 HP motor is in perfect condition, the stealth + motor guide pedal works like a charm, and the pump for the live well is strong.

The only thing that I can see that I will have to do is cosmetics. I DEFENITLY plan on replease that horribly ugly carpet that it has, i mean seriously what was he thinking?!?. Also the back seat has seen better days but he threw in another one as a replasement. I would also like to re paint it, not sure how difficult that would be but its worth looking in to.

Here is my concern....the beam. the beam is very narrow as you can see. Now I know hes fished out of this for a while but I cant imagine it was easy...i mean look at it. It looks like one hard turn with the motor and its tipping...but maybe i'm wrong? I'll have to wait and see but either way the price that I got it at I could use it for a season, and resell at the end and probably make a profit which is good.

Let me know what you think/suggestions please!

Looks like a well laid out rig.As you said it's very narrow. For myself that would be the only issue.Good Luck with it.

Wow either it's still nice. I just got me a Tracker 14. I'm doing some mods myself now. I got the deck carpeted but not on yet. I went and bought myself a 50lb thrust bow mount Prowler(hopefully good) and I have my 40lb thrust back mount just in case. Have you got the chance to take yours out yet? How does the front trolling motor act being near the side of boat cause I'm not sure how to mount mine. If placing it in the middle or like yours. Also how wide is your jon boat? just wondering if is like mine or wider? Mine I think is round 4' or so. I'm probably going the same route as the live well since I don't want to ripe out the styrofoam that's in the seats. Good luck and hope you enjoy it.

Now all that is left is to see photos of lunkers you caught out of it. Congratulations --- hope you enjoy.

It seems very narrow, which is a concern but I havent taken it out yet.

I really have NO idea how to work the Motorguide foot control. I know that there is a button on the side that makes it go, then a scroll that adjusts speed...but how the hell do i turn it? by hand? that seems pointless.

The manual that came with it said that you push the pedal forward for right turn, back for left, and keep it straight for straight. But I dont know if its rusted but i pushed all of my weight on the pedal and it didnt move. I think i'm going to make a video tomorrow and post it. see if anyone could help me out.

Sweet boat ! :-)

All you need to catch a HUGE bass ! :D

BTW, I wouldn't worry too much about the carpet. I mean what the hey, a guy doesn't buy a boat like this for looks.... or to look cool.... He buys it to catch fish ! And I promise you, the fish couldn't care less what color your carpet is  :D

Have fun with it, and be safe ! Always wear an auto-inflatable PFD !

Peace,

Fish

Anyone familiar with MotorGuide Stealth Trolling motors?

Mine came with one, I was going to make a video about how my foot pedal MAY not work ( still might, but been super busy...bruins game tonight woot woot)

This isent mine but it looks exactly like this :motorguide-trolling-motor-stealth-300-37lb-thrust_320618579375.jpg

I know that the white button is on/off. and the wheel is speed, but does the pedal go forward and back to adjust where its being angled? left or right?

If so, mines stuck :D rusted probably...wonder if i could get it to work

Know that it has to be deployed for the pedal to work, as it spins the entire head/shaft/ect!  Make sure you are trying this with it deployed and not resting on the mount on the boat!

looks like the one i just replaced.. You're right on with the pedal..Push the top of the pedal and the motor turns right, push on the bottom the motor turns left. If i'm not mistaken these have cables connected to a gear system in the top of the tm where the cables go in. If it doesn't turn at all you can remove the top and take a looks to see if you can free it.

The problem I don't think is with the gears, but the pedal itself does not push back or forward. Like i legit put all my weight on it to get it to move and it didn't. I can only assume its the pedal being stuck?

Very possible the pedal is stuck because of the gears/cable.

Well there's 3 things to check..1. pedal..unhook from cable and see if it moves..2. Cable..unhook from gears and see if it moves(assuming the pedal moved to start with. 3..Gears if the pedal moves and the cable moves its got to be the gears. Just a process of elimination :D

Do make sure you tm is deployed in a vertical position prior to pushing on the pedal...that would be the only way to turn it.

I have and bearings go out in the shaft that caused the head to not turn at all- had to replace it.

typically the cables are an easy fix if that is the problem.

The tm is down when you try to use the pedal...correct?

Yup. Im dumb. Never tested the trolling motor when it was down, i thought it was electric, not via cables. Works like a champ.

Haha glad you got it figured out! It looks like a slick small water rig for sure.
