OG Crankster Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Midway got me again. Ordered a St Croix Legend Glass crankbait rod, total was 284.00. They instantly emailed me a 200.00 gift card for that purchase. I used that gift card to buy a Lews Custom Speed Spool and some crank baits. Cost me a few bucks. With that Lew's purchase, They sent me a 100.00 gift card. So now I bought a 6'10 Veritas Tournament Edition spinning rod and a RKcrawler. Used that gift card and that cost me a few bucks. So, for under 300.00 out of pocket, I think thats a good deal for all of that stuff. Midway is offering different amount gift cards with a purchase of certain St Croix and Lews gear. 15 1 Quote

I’m couldnt find a better deal than spending $275 and getting $200 back. I have a little buyers remorse knowing i paid $275 for glass lol. Quote

My local tackle shop has the 7'11" Heavy / Moderate Legend Glass in the shop, and I put hands on it just about every time I go in there. It's a very nice, light weight rod, especially for a glass rod. Quote

I got the 6”10 medium reason being I built a Rodgeeks 7”9 heavy/moderate glass blank which is up to 2 oz and a North Fork Composite cb-705 zentron Delta which is up to an 1oz. Im not sure the materials on the Zentron but feels like a composite blank 1 Quote

I assume hybrid means they are composite but I'm not 100% sure. 1 Quote

Im trying to decide since I be throwing squarebills up to DT8s if I should run a slower 5:1 or 6:1 ratio reel with it or a 7:1 so I can easily speed up the baits if needed Quote

You can use any gear ratio for sq bills and shallow cranks but I generally prefer a 5:1 or 6:1. The Zillion and Shimano Bantam are the first 2 reels I would consider if I were buying a new cranking reel and I would go JDM. 1 Quote

Do you have to do anything special? Its a little tricky. Go into a rod that has special offer. Then it will take you to the special. Click shop qualifying offer. Once you go in and find a rod u want you will have to click apply offer and add the gift card to your cart https://imgur.com/a/45DizMs On 2/15/2023 at 11:01 PM, Jrob78 said: I've got a Daiwa Alphas 800 with a Zillion 5:1 gear set and a 100mm handle on mine. Will be good up to a DT 10. I put a 6:3.1 150 Curado MGL on it. Not a bad combo. Quote

Do you have to do anything special? Make sure the rod doesn't have a discount already. Took awhile for me to figure it out, but rods already discounted won't work even though it says Special Offer Available under it. You have to select a rod that is at full price, then click the corresponding coupon and it will work. At least that's how I was able to get it to work. Still some really nice deals even without being able to use it with on sale items. I've bought a few rods/reels and stocked up on baits that were on sale too. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted February 17, 2023 Super User Posted February 17, 2023 Nice, I know some people hate glass but I find it really fun to fish, especially when you hook one. 6:1 is probably perfect for sq bills and shallow cranks. Quote
Cbump Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 It’s not working for me either. The only legend glass left is the 6’10” MH and It says it’s not eligible for the offer ? Quote
Drawdown Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Could it be you’re copying the wrong code? There’s a different code for each price level. The one that gets you a $250 card won’t work on a sub-$200 rod, etc. Quote

I just got one for $109 and @drakesndrum just got one for $88. Each qualifies for a rebate in the form of a $60 Daiwa Huk UPF 50 hoodie shirt. P.S. If you've purchased any qualifying Tatula products from any retailer after Feb 1 of this year, the rebate is available to you if you have the receipt and the original bar code. Just do a search for "Tatula/HUK Promotion" to find the rebate form and rules. Dang you. I need another rod like I need a hole in the head. I ended up getting the 7'3 MH, along with a few other baits. If you go in the sales section and look around there's some really good deals to be had. What rod did you get? Anybody have any experience with these rods? I have a few regular Tats and Rebellions and I like those. Have never handled any of these before. 1 Quote

Cbump Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 Midway got me too. $90 for the 7’1” heavy. Hoping It’ll be good for pitching 3/8oz jigs. Just going to put a Tatula 150HS on It. It’s all I’ve got at the moment. Maybe a good spinnerbait rod too. Quote

If I get to throw those baits with it from tight quarters, anything else is gravy. Quote

Super User NorthernBasser Posted February 23, 2023 Super User Posted February 23, 2023 Just placed another order for the 7' ML casting. ?♂️ I'll call them in the morning to give them the heads-up so they can ship them both together. Does anyone know how they pack their rods? I ordered an Orochi from them once but can't recall if it came in a tube, box etc. Quote
