Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted February 25, 2023 Global Moderator Posted February 25, 2023 Got the wheels spinning. There’s a middle eastern guy who has a restaurant in Grand Rapids, the place on the outside and inside isn’t very appealing, but an employee of my customer said let’s try it! I did and it was great! They had lamb on a spiral cooker like your video. Makes a great gyro! The food is good, the price is reasonable, and you get more than you can eat! We go there maybe twice a month, he recognizes us and cuts us a deal. He does more than middle eastern food, it’s all great! 1 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted February 25, 2023 Author Super User Posted February 25, 2023 They mentioned the Twinkie and AffyTapple back to back. Worked for both AffyTapple and Hostess at one time. Both companies have been sold. I'll tell you there is nothing better than grabbing a caramel apple right off the line before starting your delivery route. Just throwing this out there...I'm probably one of the few guys, maybe the only one, that had sex in the back of a Twinkie truck. I'm still with the woman although she will never admit to it. Gives a whole new meaning to cream filling. 3 Quote

Call it a cinnamon roll and it's all whitey. Seriously...Chicago is the most segregated city in the US. There is nothing racial about my post for any of the snowflakes here. It's just life in the big city. And the folks that don't live in city's like Chicago, NYC, and Los Angeles...there is a lot more culture you folks are missing. 7 minutes ago, 12poundbass said: How’d you know his wife’s name? There are probably plenty of prisoners around the country that are wealthier than I am because of honey buns! I’ve had calimari once and that was only because my wife got it and forced me to try it. It was at Gerald R Ford airport. It was absolutely great! That sports bar had the best draft beer too (I hate draft beer). That sports bar is no longer there and you can’t access the restaurants at the airport anymore if you’re not a passenger. 1 Quote

Shame it's from a Greek restaurant but the best you will ever have. 2 minutes ago, iabass8 said: Illinois sucks I won't disagree but the food here is well worth a look. Quote

I’ve feasted on the highest of the highs (thanks to my job) and the elitist chains and hidden local treasures over the years in the cook county and surrounding area. I can confidentially say I would rather fishing professionally for smallmouth bass in south america than ever do anything professionally in illinois. That state sucks politically, logistically, professionally. Illinois is the type to buy cheap TP and not apologize when your finger breaks through on a standard wipe and say well, thats the “lightfoot way”. Like hey , I stubbed my toe on your super poopy sidewalks but heres a 10% coupon to sbarros because lori sucks. Illinois sucks. Quote

He’s too busy yelling at old ladies and making people get off his lawn 1 1 Quote

Super User DitchPanda Posted February 25, 2023 Super User Posted February 25, 2023 I've only been thru Chicago once when I was 10 or 11. We were living in Belleville Illinois at the time which is 20ish miles outside of St Louis. I will say for sure one thing I miss about living in a big city is the diversity of food options. Lived outside of Houston for years growing up and we had access to all kinds of food within 20 minutes of our house. Living in a small Midwest town we don't have many options locally. Do have a small Mexican place n town thats been here since 06...owned and operated by a husband and wife that moved her from Mexico. Very nice hard working people...always happy to see you. There normal food is good but its pretty standard American style Mexican food tacos, quesadillas, fajitas...but on weekends they will often times add some more authentic dishes...stuff they grew up eating. Menudo, pozole, ceviche and whole fried fish ( normally tilapia) hit the menu quite often. Quote
