It all comes down to feel for most people. Some people do try something once for ten minutes and decide they don’t like it. I know I do not like using anything other than braid for main line. I feel to disconnected from the bait. Others hate braid. Feel is an opinion.

I think a lot of bad line reviews are due to spooling the line wrong, or tying poor knots. Just an opinion...

That..also who knows where the bad reviewer purchased the line. If I order a new spool of trilene from bass pro and some other dude buys a 15 year old spool from a garage sale I bet our experiences would be different.

@T-Billy is a true hammer, uses braid almost exclusively.....and this one time I said " no serious Bass angler uses braid exclusively" ?

After being embarrassed by such a stupid statement on my behalf, I've stopped making assumptions about other Basshead's gear decisions.

my point was its not only line. its every product made. its not only fishing. its amazinghow the human perception of products can vary so much.

The reason I used line as an example is because the qualities in my mind are a little more tangible then some other products.  Like anything else if you don't use it correctly you're not going to get a good return from your investment.

I think people are 3x more likely to post a negative comment which is kinda sad but just human nature. Expectations vary. What’s no big deal to me might drive someone else to distraction. I take it all with a grain of salt.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, nothing comes close to Original Spiderwire 50 lb braid at repairing Purple Dinosaur necks. This is not a paid endorsement.

I loved that line. Don't know why they stopped making it.

I take all reviews with the proverbial grain of salt.  The “user” doing the ratings has far too many unknown variables and or motives for me to take them at face value. Members here more often than not share the actual experience and context with their opinion.  At least that’s provides credibility.  Don’t rate a product you don’t own nor use.

Was it that good or is the fact it was the best thing we had ever used at the time? I was just thinking the other day how I wish I had that spiderwire from the 90s because it was so great... was it?

Feel isn’t a opinion it’s a fact. Try sticking a needle in your finger tip, the feed back is real. same with line being felt by your finger tip, you feel it or you don’t.

It was smooth and didn't make a lot of noise. All their other braids suck IMHO.

You can feel something and like it or not like it. That doesn’t mean that is exactly the same for everyone. If my finger tip is more callused then yours that feeling will be different. That’s like saying if you like soda you should like coke and Pepsi equally.

I've read plenty of posts here that says, "Buy X-brand and get it over with".

I only use Shimano for reels, Shimano rods and a few low-end Loomis and Dobyns and lately a pretty decent St Croix rod. I use them and I only share my experience with the products I use, Are my experiences with these products perfect? Heck No! I try the best I can to share or maybe recommend products based on my experience like most here do and I would never ever push someone to buy products I or someone likes just because it's what we use.

Some folks can crack a safe others can’t tie their shoes, strike detection is all about being a safe cracker, educated finger tips.

Some feel the pin ***** others don’t?

We are going to have to agree to disagree on this. You are using feel in the most literal way possible. I am using feel as in what you like.

I dunno bout that hammer business. My head is as hard as one according to my wife though.

I'm a frequent fluoro basher, but it's tongue in cheek. Sometimes it's just entertaining to poke the bear. ? Fluoro cost me a couple PB's when I was flippin with it, and I experienced some phantom breakoffs at other times with several brands. It's not for me, but I can't argue with others success, and lack of issues with it. My advice to anyone would be to try it all and see what works for you, just... stay away from fluoro. ? Me moving to braid for most applications was a long process over many years. It was a love/hate thing for a long time, but over time it just ended up being the best option for me, for most things. I still prefer mono for finesse stuff.

I work with the public.  Nothing surprises me.  Combine this with the fact that there's no way we're all going to like the same thing.  I don't pay reviews any attention.

Youtuber reviews are quite possibly the worst - hear some guy rave about a product after you watched an advertisement for said product at the start of their bit...and then they never use said product ever again.

For the most part they are all paid and thats where separating the facts from the exaggerated truth is difficult.

I find line reviews of of fishing gear, to be the most useless. HOWEVER, I love reading them for the  comedic content they produce.

Using line as an example, there’s so many variables from user to user all you can hope for is to get a very “general” idea of the characteristics of the line because as a reviewer, you do not fish like me, hookset like me, fish the same waters as me, use the same gear as me, and finally have the same sense of perception as me.  What works well for one person may be totally crappy for the next.
